SAK + Others pics

i opened it:o I've been wanting to read the book and i figured what the heck

im not a big fan of engravings so if someone has a standard non engraved wenger SI or vic soldier i'd be happy to swap:) year doesn't matter to me as long as its in the same condition as mine

I would swap you a Wenger SI for it. If your serious let me know and I will find the SI.

Very nice pairings with your Cadet, John.:thumbup:
Your regular mention and support of the Cadet has convinced me that I'll be getting one very soon; I think I'll go for a red one! :D...(I always admire everyone's Texas Jacks, too, but the square bolsters are a "deal breaker" for me on that knife; I like the look, but I don't think I'd like the feel.)

My gateway drug to the Alox Pox was the SAK Electrician, shown here next to the same Case Texas Jack (in keeping with the spirit of the thread). At the time I took that pic, it was an either/or thing rather than both.

The Cadet was just smaller and thinner enough where it would disappear in my right front pocket, freeing up my back pocket for another knife (see below, though, for the consequences of that). Plus I use the nail file tool (both for nail care and as a flat Phillips screwdriver) more often than the punch/awl.

I get what you mean about the squared bolsters of the Texas Jack. I used to carry that knife religiously in my left rear pocket, but the square bolsters combined with my desk job and the chair I sit in caused it to actually wear holes in my pants where I carried it, so I haven't carried it in a while. Even though the Case '032 pattern in both the jack and stockman configurations is one of my favorites. Rounded bolsters are much more pocket friendly I've found, hence the Peanut.

Recently I've been going with two Alox SAKs - the Cadet and the Mini Champ, and giving the others a bit of a rest.

Thanks for the follow-up, John. I carry an Electrician and a Minichamp every day, but my Minichamp is celidor. Here's a photo of my Electrician with a black "regular" Pioneer, followed by the only photo I have of the Minichamp doing some "medical work":

None of my knives have worn holes in my pockets yet, but it sure seems like the shapes of some of them are "more pocket friendly" than others!

Thanks, SAK Guy! :)
I'm learning some helpful stuff about knife photos, but I'm sure not very consistent yet. And I'm still pretty clueless about indoor photography and lighting. :(:(:o

Today's carry is a SAK Bantam with a Darac Steel EDC in N690, and a Hinderer XM-18 Skinner 3.5"

I have to admit when I started reading this forum I kind of laughed at all the SAK people. I think today I have finally realized how handy a SAK really is though. Loving my basic alox electrician. Might have to get something new soon. Any suggestions on something a little smaller with a main blade and a bottle opener and whatever other useful tools yall use a lot. Id really like a single spring with just those two honestly.

Single layer knives are very thin and can be uncomfortable. Just something to be aware of. If you wanted a SAK with just blade and bottle opener look into a Bantam.

The cellidor model is readily available. The alox version might be a bit harder to find, but you can get one pretty easily.

Thanks for the info. Hasn't thought about it being uncomfortable.

Here's a picture of some of my favorites...their enjoying each others company. :p

From far left & right: Victorinox Cordura Belt Pouches (33214), with hook and loop fasteners (velcro).
From top to bottom: Leatherman Standard Leather Sheath, Leatherman Rebar, Victorinox SAK Fieldmaster, Victorinox Farmer and the ThruNite Archer 1A V2 (NW).
