Sandy

Im baffled as to why the hurricane did so much damage to my state yet the main part of it was headed toward new jersey. So many of us are without power, and floods are rampant. I got lucky for some reason...

Lost a couple tryes and limbs. One tree lost a lot of bark. Pond is full:)

Only lost power couple times for 30-60minutes. Faired pretty well here in NOVA.
Jjust saw the neighborhood in NY that burned....just horrible.

Here's to all praying you are all safe.

Still up, here. One period of brief brownouts and a few flickers, but never lost power...and after hearing the wind gusts and feeling the house shake during an hour or 2 of the worst of the wind gusts, I'm astounded. T, I saw that too and wow... :( NYC & the whole island really took a hit, especially that neighborhood.

Hope y'all got as big a break as I did. Stay safe, folks!

Here is a comparison pic of what they are going through in Cape May NJ; poor bastards. The blue & white posts in the picture are structures used for setting up tents in the summertime.

public transportation is shot down in New York; bridges and tunes are closed no way to get into the city. I guess is a second forced day off for me.

We lost power @ about 9pm last night, and it is still out.

But, we made it through safe and sound, and with no damage to the house, so I can live without power for a while.

Lost power an hour ago. Internet will be out for days. 6" of snow here just outside Charleston, WV that's making slush as we speak. Fun fun and bored outta my mind lol. Guess I could start planning on where to move next. And we're on the outside of the storm lol

So many have lost so much. This one is going to be topical and relevant for a long, long time. It's frustrating to watch knowing its so very far out of your control to stop the damage to people and property.

My heart goes out to all touched by this one. And I have not forgotten the troubling events in other parts of this counrty and the world as a whole, either. Be safe.

Huge shout out to all the folks working so hard to assist others in this time of need.

Thank you all.

Watching 20/20 and again shaking my head over the fact that the center of this storm literally passed over my head, yet most of NJ, NYC and surrounding areas, W.VA., counties to the north here in PA., etc. took a huge hit while here we sustained very minor damage, all things considered. Such an odd feeling, what a weird storm. My heart goes out to those who will be in the dark for days, and for those who lost so much more... :(

Hang in there KAAK, amdmaxx, and everybody still affected. Stay safe & warm.

I am in NYC on vacation. We went and got supplies JIC. I even filled up the sinks and bathtub with water beforehand. Made sure the rental was full. Charged my phone, my wife's phone, the spare phone, the laptop, and the portable phone charger. Made sure we had plenty of cash in small bills, and waited. And waited. And waited. Brooklynn never got hit that hard, at least not where we were. We even went out to get food and were gone a couple hours, never had any problems.

Then we went to Manhattan. They got hit really hard there. A lot of areas still did not have power. I saw a few people even died. That was really sad, and sobering. Until that point, it had been more or less a fun experience.

I'm sorry if any of you guys or your family was injured or worse. My heart also goes out to you guys that had homes or other possessions damaged.

We lost power last night, Monday, at 9:30pm. After work today the house was down to 58 degrees. Found a used generator on Craig's list and drove two hours round trip to get it. Am able to plug in the fridge a few lights and a radiant heater. It certainly could be worse

Well, I got lucky. Power is back on and internet is back up. Now to just deal with the annoying rain to follow. Hope things go well for the rest of you still battling this storm. Glad this time was more mild than the wind storm a few months back. That was 5 days of no power in hot weather.
