Sardinian thankfulness - and the winner is...

Ma, che Bello figuro!

I usually decline giveaways, but I would not miss this one for anything, Fausto!
Congratulations on 1000 posts, and I hope you are around for many thousands more!!
Perhaps I will see Sardinia one day!

All of your posts have been enjoyable, but I have especially enjoyed the non-U.S. traditionals you have posted.

Congrats and I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring for this one. Can't resist. I'll do another GA if I win, for sure. I love seeing your posts...why? Well, I'm a writer and I love the way you write. Not your native tongue, but your English has a lot of charm. Thanks brother.

Congrats! I'm new around here, and though I came in with different interests, I've ended up spending most of my time in the traditionals side. I now making the conversion!

What is notable about you is that you don't just post up pictures about a knife we've never seen before, or even just give a description of the knife, but you give a description and stories about the people behind these tools. And they're what all of this is about anyways. You've made some of the more memorable posts in this subforum to me, and I'd be honored to be entered into the drawing. :)

Fausto,

Its been such a pleasure to be part of your Traditional Family in here my friend!, your posts are always great, and I personally enjoy having you stick around.
Cool give-away Fausto, look forward to seeing another thousand from you.

Hey Fausto,

First of all congrats on your 1000.

Just like you I grew up with one bladed simple working knives (mainly Herder Solingen Sodbusters and an occasional Opinel)

I've learned to like the American traditionals, but in the end there's nothing more "trusty" than a simple one bladed pocket knife.;)

Looking forward to 1000 more posts of you:D

Congrats on that milestone. A knife and some sausage and/or cheese would be a great gift for anyone.

Not an entry but I just wanted to say thanks for your posts on this wonderful forum. I always appreciate your unique knives and perspective. Congrats on 1k posts :)

Thanks for the opportunity; looking forward to the pictures.

I bought one traditional slippie in 1970, a GEC a couple of months ago and a custom yesterday. I graphed my purchases and, using least square regression analysis, the resulting curve predicts that by 2017 I will own over a million traditional slippies and will have spent the equivalent of the annual GDP of Fiji.

Please count me in on this wonderful giveaway, and thank you. 1,000 posts is quite a milestone, I still have a ways to go. What I have liked about your posts (and others on this sub-forum from overseas), is what your opinions are concerning American traditionals. I have always carried a traditional of some sort but really like whatever the theme knife is from other countries. Such as an Opinel from France or a Scandi-type from Norway/Finland. Something else interesting to carry/use.

Thank you for the chance, Fausto!

I always enjoy reading what you have to say and I wholeheartedly agree that your English and style of writing have a certain charm about them. Your username is among the most recognizable to me on this forum.

You gave me a lot of help through private communication when I was trying to find a Viper Bergamasco. Not to mention that it was you that inspired my desire to have one in the first place. I learned from those communications that if I ever need your help for anything, you will do your very best to assist. There is not much more a person could ask for from a friend and fellow forumite.

Congrats on 1000 posts! Looking forward to many, many more.

Oh yeah, one more thing: I didn't even know there was such a thing as sheep cheese  but I'll try anything once.:)

Hey Fausto, thanks for an awesome giveaway!

I went back and read your story about the old hunter during the rally race and I must say your story telling is great! I really enjoyed reading it!

congrats on 1000, I hope to get there someday.

Guys,
I am absolutely flattered. I wasn't expecting to get such nice posts. So thank you.
A few things surprised me and made me smile.
The first was being complimented for my English. I love reading, writing, and I love languages (actually, English is my third language, or my second foreign language) and I've studied English since I was a kid but I didn't expect such comments. Thank you.
The second was the Audi thing. I had never even thought that my username could be seen that way :)
The third was about sheep cheese...come on Rick, in Sardinia there are more sheeps than people...what did you expect us to do with all that milk? :D I'll send you some if you want (aside from the giveaway), then you tell me what you think about it.
Back to the thread...
This morning I went out to get the knife (I want to share the whole process with you guys). I didn't really find what I was looking for. I might wait a week or so (this thread is going to last for a while, don't know exactly yet) so a new thought came into my mind.
I might give away a knife that I already have. And the more I think about this, the more I feel it would be even better. Of course, the knife would not be a new one...but I know that wouldn't be a problem at all. And, sometimes, some things are just meant to come and go.
I will think about it this weekend...then decide and post pictures of the knife I chose.
Meanwhile, thank you again.

Fausto

Thank you for your offer, Fausto but I will respectfully decline. However, if I should happen to be the lucky winner, I wouldn't mind at all if you wanted to put some sheep cheese in the package with the knife as I really would love to try it. When I joined this forum I never thought for a second that I would encounter a chance to sample some Sardinian sheep cheese.:) You bring a delightful flare to this forum, my friend and it is very refreshing.

Since this is my second post in this thread, please only count my first post as an entry.

Thanks again, Fausto!

Fausto! I like your posts brother, but by the way I'm still waiting for some good Italian recipies. Count me in please and thanks for the opportunity

Fausto, it would be a double honor, to receive a knife that you personally used. I think you have "upped the stakes"!! (A nice English colloquialism for you!)
Nice going!!
I carry a knife that was Tony Bose's personal knife! It feels very special, and serves unfailingly!
There is some magic in a knife's history sometimes.

Great gesture Fausto! Looking forward to seeing the photo's. I find the traditional Sardinian knives very interesting!

Fausto,

Thanks for the opportunity of a chance to own a traditional Sardinian friction folder! Like you I stumbled upon Bladeforums.com. I am thankful for this forum for it's allowed me to purchase a couple of custom knives so far that I probably would have not known about.

I visited your country many years ago (1973) while touring the Mediterranean as a member of the US Navy. I believe the port we came into was Cagliari. I remember a beautiful rugged coastline, picturesque villages and friendly people. :)

Regards,
Mark
