Sarsquatch.....What Happened???

i agree that grind will be awesome. it may only be 3/16, but sabre + convex will indeed make it quite porky. wish i were going to blade. i certainly hope this is the next offering

As I hoped this bad boy seems to be more in line with a SFNO and I'm so in, have I mentioned my RW is crying.

I'm with ya TUK. . . . I take a lot of the pics and I'm usually hammered. . . so what looks good to me has been filtered through a bucket of bourbon!!!!

Jerry :D

See Boss you need to switch to RUM. Bundeberg OP to be exact.

"Time fly's when your drinking rum"

I'll take 2 :thumbup::thumbup:

The pencil drawing of the final design really helps me understand why this will be a great camp knife. The photo made it look blade heavy but the pencil design picture shows a great looking, and balanced knife.

Please make some of these in satin and micarta! :D

I'd love to see a straight on shot comparison, because the way the angle distortion plays on the sarsquatch - it makes it look like a sh-e blade was placed onto a tac sized handle.

Is it the size of the sfno, or sligthly larger?

I'm just bummed that I won't be there. For the party, knives, drinking, knives, did I say drinking, the SARsquatch, drinking........................

Don't forget about the drinking...

I'm feelin' this in a Armoralleather Dundee Rig, and a MiniMuk in a BADASS pair 'O' pants.

I love the handles but don't like the blade profile, I'm hoping he'll go back to the drawing on the blade profile!

Even though I liked the "down" thumb ramp with grooves on the drawing I wanted the blade to be as broad as possible and Jerry nailed that by keeping the spine at that height. While I like thumb grooves in theory I don't like them in use. I might be able to look and see tiny things I would change. I might go for a shorter swedge for example but looking at the finished blade it seems so close to perfect I'm just standing by to order. I see this design as a gift to us and appreciate it very much.

The reason I don't see myself getting a custom that is entirely of my design is because Jerry get's it right on ergonomics. Again, we can ask for changes to create our own personal perfect knife but what is that to the next guy? The SAR 5 was proof that Jerry tests his design for comfort and function and dispenses with things that don't work as well as he would like. I for one trust Jerry and there are probably things functionally better or more cost effective for field SAR people in this design. When some of our people can only spend $250 on their boots and back pack they are not looking for a $400 knife. I'm hoping for somewhere between $297 and $327. And I will buy 2 because I have a (Busse) knife problem .

from the looks of the pic that jerry showed, it's noticeably larger then the sjtac - which means that it's bigger then the sfno. because the sfno isn't that much larger then the sjtac.

so, we may be look at a model that bridges the gap between sfno and fsh, but with a tac style handle. big knives are always wecome :D

check out the size difference between the sfno and the sjtac:
Users2.jpg

for length, it's maybe 1/2-1" difference

now the sarsquatch:
SARvsSJATC15.jpg

to me, that looks like 1"+ difference. but there is a great deal of camera distortion.... so we will see :)

the sj in jerry's pic is placed slightly further back. i suspect the squatch will be pretty durned close to the sfno in proportions

...snip...
I can assure you that I will not be posting any more of my pencil drawings in the future!!! Yowza!!!!

Let's drink!!!

Jerry :D

Boss... Please don't stop showing off your pencil sketch designs!!!! :( :(

It's something that this HOG really enjoys... seeing the new design... waiting for new sneak peeks...
Come on Boss, don't let it get to you.

NOW... for the SARSquatch... I think everybody is right... these will suck.
So there is no need to even think about buying them at Blade. ;)

Stealth mode...
Now maybe there will be some left for those of us that can't make it to blade. :D
Bring on the Blade SARSquatch Lovin'Ganzaaaaa!!! :D

Hey boss...

PLEASE show us a comparison pic of the Squatch and the SFNO. I'm sure there are a lot of us trying to decide between those two knives.
