I made a trade with a member who lives in Riyadh. He got my Scarab today and wasn't happy at all. Apparently the blade is stuck half way and won't budge. Knife was LN and uncarried/used when I sent it off. He told me to tape over the opening and slider/button so that customs would not mess with it and to "prevent opening while shipping". I did one better and wrapped the business half with paper and then taped around it. I'm assuming somebody tried to fire it while there was still tape on the knife and then tried to retract it, pulling something into the works. He got it without my tape/paper on it and the blade was partially open. It goes without saying that the knife functioned perfectly when I sent it.

I'm posting this here because it pertains to autos, but if the mod sees fit, he can move it.

I explained what most likely happened to him and now he's looking for an online retailer that has the right MT wrenches.

I have had this problem once before when I let a friend play with a Makora. He cut through something that left tape on the blade and then retracted it. Thankfully that Makora had Torx bits. Are jams like this frequent? I figured there are some people here that actually use their D/A OTFs. It seems like these knives must be kept as clean as an M16 type rifle.
 
I haven't received my half yet but that's because I shipped the Scarab priority mail. He shipped a commander and 15 normal rate. Said it has taken 3 weeks in past trades.
 
CM....smells like BULLSHIT to me. You may have become a victim of the Saudi scammer. What's his username and/or email address? This has been a recurring problem on the forum. He likes to troll through threads and find people who are looking to sell/trade. If you've listed your email address, he'll contact you via email outside of BF, and offer you a couple or three knives for your one knife.

PM me with the info if you don't want to make it public. I have an intel file with all his alias names and email addresses.

That was my first thought too. I had a Saudi scammer contact me by email with offers of Emersons and Spydercos a few weeks ago.

CM, really hope this works out for you. :thumbup:
 
I think at this point we need to move this from Automatic Knives to FEEDBACK.

Those of you suspecting the Saudi scammer are most likely correct and Charlie Mike is in contact with me about him. Anything anyone else has to add is definitely welcome.
 
Maybe he is just saying the knife you sent him is messed up, so he will have something of an "out" when you never get anything?:confused:

I recently had the saudi Scammer offer an Emerson Commander in trade for a knife he thought I had............

Smells like a duck, and is walking like a duck, so I will wait to see if I hear that quack.

There is no mistaking that quack!!

That's my guess too. He can say "hey it's a busted knife, you don't want it back anyway."
 
I got more email from him today and we have come to a way to resolve the problem. I have a NIB w/ papers Scarab Exec identical to the one I sent. He is going to send me the original knife back and I will send him the NIB Scarab. Somewhere between here and then, the Commander and CQC15 he promised me will arrive.

Would be a good time to pour a nice tall cold one, put the feet up and start in on 'War & Peace' IMO!
 
Why not get a head start and just ship that knife you have. This way if it is the saudi Scammer..........

you Might as well get fully scammed.
