I'm sure almost everyone here has a favorite knife. I know many people have pieces of art worth thousands of dollars.

How would you prevent that special piece from being taken away from you?

What would you do if it does get stolen?

I hide mine in my sock drawer and cast hexes.

More seriously, a safe and insurance.

And I'd be bummed, but at least hope that I'd keep perspective. Things are just things.

I live in a secure Condo. building in a decent area. So theft is not likely. And we have USAA property insurance. I've been really lucky, never had anything stolen over the decades. I think I look poor or something.

My parents live in a gated community that has a guarded main gate and a guarded secondary gate for their particular group of houses. In 2018 a couple of dudes in a truck went through both gates giving fake ID's claiming they were visiting my parents. My parents and my sister were not at home. In 1 hour they took every valuable, every jewel and most small electronics(laptops, cellphones, etc).

Curiously, I still have part of my collection in my parent's house. The thieves checked it out but for whatever reason they did not take it. Not one knife or dagger. But, they could have taken them all for sure.

I don't think my dogs would have permitted any of that.

Oh surely. Alas, my parents only had a cat at the time and the cowardly POS was so scared it didn't come out for a few days after the theft 😂.

We used to have dogs but since I had moved out and my sister was usually busy no one could walk them, etc. So after they passed of old age my parents decided not to get more dogs. Just cats because they are easy maintenance.
