Scenario: Your rare grail knife gets stolen. How do you prevent it and what do you do if it happens?

Luckily a relatively simple one that is very easily reproducible. If you browse through my postings you will very quickly find what it is. 🙂

This isn't a "List your favored home defense firearm" thread, lol, the knife is already stolen in the scenario listed,
It looks like you did not read the title or the OP before posting. Let me highlight the relevant portion that you have a problem with people responding. Curious to hear your actual response to the question.

How would you prevent that special piece from being taken away from you?

Besides various levels of your normal home security and insurance, our home is also protect by the Castle Doctrine.

I hopefully buy some new grail knives with the insurance money. Probably won't have so many knives next time around.

1. My most expensive knife is worth about $175 so it won't be the end of the world if I lose it. I won't spend $2k on a knife, I'd build an AR instead.
2. 2 Pitbulls in the house. Our early warning system.
3. House alarm.
4. My wife and I have our CPLs.
5. Insurance.

That seems like a lot more work than it's worth.

Right now yes. But really the question is for future potential: I'd like to get other things, perhaps have my own designs made, try cutting edge materials, etc.

That I know would cost a lot of money and I'm just wondering at this point if I do spend a lot of money on certain pieces how would I keep them safe? is it even worth it? I guess I am a bit paranoid as well after what happened to my parents.

Life is short, shorter for others. Life is precious, much more so for our loved ones.

I no longer worship nice, or expensive knives, so I'm not gonna go all Macho and shoot somebody over property like a knife. I'm sorry that some people live in dangerous neighborhoods where break-ins are common, but do what you have to to stay safe, and don't shoot your neighbor through the walls when firing.

Fair, I guess I just think there's more fun things than reading "Ah'd shoot em" ten times, but you know what, Cray? That ain't nobody's problem but my own. Thank ya for the correction, please continue to list pistol calibers.

My answer, then, to the thread, if we're talking how we'd prevent a thief taking our knives.... my home is protect by Espada XL. And if you're answering with pistol calibers, why isn't the thread "How would you defend your home?". To answer the question and have it be different than that question, you NEED some explaination beyond a handgun round, now that I think of it.

I keep a G-10 XL on my headboard specifically for the nighttime knife-ninjas, something different for those choreographed-looking, epic fights I get into over my knife case once every couple weeks, when a local vagabond, or would be hero for his clan comes to get them, and it's the same result every time, sending his soul to Thor.

Otherwise? .25 ACP 55grn hollow points 😂

This is the real answer. I have been hokey the whole thread, but this right here. Could absolutely never shoot someone, for JUST, and I mean JUST... stealing my knife, car, whatever. If I get a guy busting through my window for my Espada, I don't know that, and I'd start to bust at a home invader, not knowing if he's there for my life, my wife (er, my woman)... Natural.

But the thread is about a specific knife-thief, and in the situation, he ain't a home invader in the knife, er, night, he's who you know, to be a knife thief. So, I wonder how many folks, if they exited their bathroom to see me walking out the door with their set of Wusthoffs or even something really nice, would actually cap my happy butt in the back for it. Probably a scary amount would, but hey, it's America.

If I, for whatever magical reason, know its just a thief, after just property... I won't be using any round. I'd probably in all seriousness harrass the guy with blunt objects or spray, as the most likely scenario for somebody who is in my house without my will but I will not shoot/am not afraid of, is a drug addict ex-friend. This has happened before. I locked my garage, then my garage window, then he took to sleeping INSIDE my mother's car. I only locked the garage cause he stole things from me, too. Thank God I was not into knives before he passed, RIP, but boy did he jack me... RIP my Jackson V guitar w/ EMG pickups , too

I think you forgot to read before you posted again. I never mentioned pistols, calibers, handguns, or rounds. I also did give a general explanation besides confrontation of a thief, in regards to the topic.

Read it again before you most more.

So, you weren't even one of the folks to list a caliber, but you're defending... other people's posts. Uh-huh. Friend, let's call it even 'fore a thread gets locked, I ain't going out of my way for ya. I hope you are enjoying your ruse.

Well okay then...

I appreciate you not saying I said things I didn't and recognizing I answered the question on topic when you did not. Reading before posting is important, thanks for doing it.

Pretty much sums it up...in that make believe fantasy world we indulge.

Otherwise, I guess I'd do the adult thing and sob drink blame the dog.
