Scenario: Your rare grail knife gets stolen. How do you prevent it and what do you do if it happens?

But the thread is about a specific knife-thief, and in the situation, he ain't a home invader in the knife, er, night, he's who you know, to be a knife thief. So, I wonder how many folks, if they exited their bathroom to see me walking out the door with their set of Wusthoffs or even something really nice, would actually cap my happy butt in the back for it. Probably a scary amount would, but hey, it's America.
Wait, what? I'm still not convinced you've read the OP. Here it is again:

I'm sure almost everyone here has a favorite knife. I know many people have pieces of art worth thousands of dollars.

How would you prevent that special piece from being taken away from you?

What would you do if it does get stolen?

I don't appreciate your ruse. You musn't concern yourself if I am too dumb to comprehend the OP - if my misunderstandings are to too great of a degree, the mods will correct me, I am sure. OP themself has liked my posts. I think I am just fine, sir.

Fair, I guess I just think there's more fun things than reading "Ah'd shoot em" ten times, but you know what, Cray? That ain't nobody's problem but my own. Thank ya for the correction, please continue to list pistol calibers.

My answer, then, to the thread, if we're talking how we'd prevent a thief taking our knives.... my home is protect by Espada XL. And if you're answering with pistol calibers, why isn't the thread "How would you defend your home?". To answer the question and have it be different than that question, you NEED some explaination beyond a handgun round, now that I think of it.

I keep a G-10 XL on my headboard specifically for the nighttime knife-ninjas, something different for those choreographed-looking, epic fights I get into over my knife case once every couple weeks, when a local vagabond, or would be hero for his clan comes to get them, and it's the same result every time, sending his soul to Thor.

Otherwise? .25 ACP 55grn hollow points 😂
.25 ACP hollow points?
You want to stop the theft. Not just piss "em off.

Um, I am concerned when in a discussion people put words in my mouth. Don't do that and you won't need correcting.

But whatevs, go about not reading ops and blithering on about whatever you want. See how that works out for you in these here fine discussion forums. I tried to warn you.

Ha, I know, it was the most ridiculous response to the trend of listing calibers I can think of. I actually think it's really funny that they exist, it's similar to .22 air rifle hollow points existing, isn't it? But, truthfully, they don't expand, but they do penetrate further in wood consistently. Yeah, that was a kind of jokey reply to a guy who's following me around in relation to an earlier disagreement. See the post below that, for my real stance on the matter! And of course I rec a meatier caliber, sir :)

C cray , don't rally people. This has got to be, if not breaking a rule, just in bad, bad taste. Just stop it, man, stop talking to me, stop trolling my posts. I didn't put a thing in your mouth, buddy, and if I did, hereby retracted. I cannot comisserate anymore with you, and you like, suck me into replying, you're like a forum-incubus lol. Please, man, this is not productive.

Last bit of advice to you in this thread, then you can have the last word.

You know the ignore feature right? I suggest you use it if you aim to continue putting words in other people's mouths and not read to what you are responding. I'm not the first, nor the last to have to correct you on such things. Also, you think someone is out of bounds? Report it. Don't go back and forth with someone when you've firmly shoved your words down their throat.

I drive a Jag myself and there is so much room in the trunk for knife collections I can even fit some art from the mansion before I egress.

Just take everything with you! I like it.

That's much better than the non-answers we've seen above, one of which was not to defend your property. Might as well make a sign that says "free knives, come on in" 😁

Disclaimer, my most highly priced (not my most expensive one) knife sits hidden in a box full of other knives and while it is rare, it isn't really expensive. A BK17 NIB in case my regular one is worn down to a nub.

So, if someone would go through that box and just pick this one, that would make me a bit sad.

I have a more "knives are tools" mindset and my most used ones are all easily replaceable. If I cannot use it, (Out of fear someone steals it or using it would reduce it's worth) I most likely won't have it.

I have Becker BK14 that was dlc'd by REK (here on BF) and I carry and use this one on a daily basis. If it was stolen, I'd be quite bummed, but would just use one of the five other BK14s I have.

I hate to say it, but chances are if a knife is going to be stolen it will likely be by someone you know. An ex, a room mate, a "friend" who turns out to not be a true friend, or a guest with sticky fingers.

Or if you're lucky, a wife/girlfriend/child who just REALLY likes it. At least that way you have a chance of getting it back. Maybe 😁.

Same as with everything. For prevention, be cognizant of the things that make one an easy target, and constantly make the effort to ensure that you are not one. If something gets stolen, try (within reason) to get it back. If you cannot, chalk it up to S*!# Happens, and move on with life (using the experience as a lesson in step one of this process).

Right now yes. But really the question is for future potential: I'd like to get other things, perhaps have my own designs made, try cutting edge materials, etc.

That I know would cost a lot of money and I'm just wondering at this point if I do spend a lot of money on certain pieces how would I keep them safe? is it even worth it? I guess I am a bit paranoid as well after what happened to my parents.
No, I meant it wasn't worth it for me to search through your post history, and look at that, now I don't have to!

I'd be way more pissed off if they stole my belt grinder......

Stealing knives just gives me an excuse to make More....haha

That looks like something Valek from the movie “John Carpenter’s Vampires” would try to steal so he could perform a ritual to walk in the daylight.
