The big 3 was a term used a decade or so ago when Strider, CRK and Hinderer were the market between production and custom, and all very popular and in demand . There were very few mid techs in that era. I no longer think it applies, if it ever did[
Yes

he was technically an Army Ranger (albeit not for very long at all before getting the boot)

I appreciate that you included the parenthetical, but for clarity's sake we should probably explain that in a tiny bit more detail. He was assigned to the 75th for two months and a handful of days, and he had three weeks of RIP, not actual ranger school. A grand total two months assigned to the 75th before he was transferred and drummed out of the Army shortly afterwards as a private E-1. No deployments of note. No black ops. No ninja commando training. No spec ops stuff he can't talk about.

The only silly thing about the Big 3 theory is that Hinderer is still at the table.

CRK Large 21
Strider SNG
Microtech SOCOM Elite

Boom. Unless CRK get's their act together with the locks on the 31 they might fall off too!

*Greg Medford has entered the chat*

Except that Medford has built knives for Burger so he supports the stolen Valor scumbag, along with his inflammatory social media ramblings about how people need to be taken out. Medfords business could tank and I wouldn't bat an eye, same for Burger.

No hard feelings to anyone who has an enjoys their knives, but they won't see a bit of my money, and neither will protech. Just my feelings though.

If you want a Strider, get a Strider. I’m not the kind of man that tells other men what to spend their money on. However, be aware of the holes in the story of Mick Berger’s checkered past. I won’t sit here and curse the man’s name up and down like many here, he was technically an Army Ranger (albeit not for very long at all before getting the boot), and word is he’s done a lot for veterans. I have a bigger issue with people that insult buyers of the brand by way of association with what Mick Berger has done... which does happen, and it’s pathetic.

Why not check out some of the offerings from Liong Mah by way of Reate? He is making moves, and the product is excellent.

Some holes in in his past????

Done a lot for veterans????

He was technically a ranger???

I'm sorry but you are sooo far off its a crying shame. Micky Burger was never a ranger, no way. He didn't have time enough in service to make t through boot camp and the training needed to get the ranger patch. He didn't have the stones to stick with some tough training so he split. He was a convicted criminal and a total imposter of a life style that he didn't earn.

If you have a problem with people that don't like Micky Burger, then maybe you don't have a problem with stolen Valor? Maybe you don't have a problem with some low life that has lied and built a business on those lies reaping in profits on a totally falsified past built on the lies of a non existent military background that is a slap in the face to anyone who did have the stones to get through the training and go serve this country, some of who didn't make it back in once piece if at all!

You'r very wrong!

What about Microtech and Buck?

I don’t care if he did one day and got the boot from regiment. A Ranger is a Ranger, and that can’t be taken away from him no matter what. I’m not a fan of his, but if he finished RIP and was assigned to the 75th, he earned the title. Ranger regiment doesn’t have a “qualification course”, and you don’t have to go to Ranger school to be a Ranger. When you’re in, you’re in.

Cool story.

Don't care for Microtech either, so no money going there.

Buck... Yea, that's a tough one to swallow because I do have a few bucks. Guess I'll just have to eat that one.

You seem to fancy Buck knives quite a bit. Is your boycott ideologically pure or not? That's why I don't engage in such practices. Think about who makes our cars, computers, phones and food.

Where did that come from? I do enjoy my Bucks, I did not know they did a collaboration with Strider. So yea, I've got to think about that but I've already spent the money no use in crying over it now.

But the cars, computers etc? Yes, I know my phone and my computer are not made with US sourced parts, my car was built in Michigan but is a European design and is using Chinese parts (what car isn't), but my food? Please don't tell me you're one of those people who thinks we ship our livestock over to China to be processed and sent back? That's just totally ridiculous economically.

But I tend to buy my meat from a local grocery store that gets locally produced food. I try to do my part when I can, but I'm not against buying things produced elsewhere.

However this is a thread about Strider, not food and cars and phones. Shouldn't have typed what I did but I'm hitting post anyway.

What would take Striders place in the big 3 ? Id say Shirogorov; strider is a 1.98 ex QVC knife in a fishbowl at a gas station compared to Strider....

Sounds like your story, kenny.

He falsified his DD214. I hear that's a typical coward's move like ol' Mickey Ray is well know for.

He may have attended a 3 week "Ranger Indoctrination Program". That's not even selection.

We all know that you personally like to take argumentative and contrary positions to try and angry people up but I'm am suggesting to you that trying to deny the facts about this matter would be a mistake.

What would take Striders place in the big 3 ?

Spartan Blades IMO. Not only do they make great knives, they're the antitheses of everything strider stands for. They have great QC, customer service, and they actually were SF badasses, but they don't run around talking about every "black ops" mission they were on. And they support a lot of military charities too.

What's the deal with the edge on the Spartan Harsey not coming all the way down?

RIP IS (or was, before RASP replaced it) Ranger selection. Maybe don’t talk about that which you know nothing about.
