School me on strider sng

If Strider ever was part of a “Big 3”, they aren’t any longer. They don’t produce enough to qualify as a “force” in knife making. That’s before you even come to terms with the namesake’s past.

There’s not even a big 3. It’s more like a big 12 with newer names like Koenig, Millit, TRM, Freeman and Holt coming into play.

Buy a Strider if you want. They’re tremendously overpriced and if you buy, please know you’re buying on a bubble. Also the knife will have literally zero resale value to a large bunch of Knife Knuts. I admit to owning an SnG that I bought used here at BF before I’d read the full story behind Burgers record.

I wouldn’t buy another and owning one is not the completion of my Zen.

As mentioned, they were part of the "trinity" of folder manufacturers people wanted for a collection back in the day.
Hence, you should buy one from back then if you want to get one.

Current manufacture, while having better fit and finish by reports of people who bought them, just isn't the same.
I can see the allure of buying old production for nostalgia's sake, completing the knife quest that people were on a decade or so ago.
Might as well track down an old production Hinderer and Sebenza while you're at it. ;)

“The tab is a school... the scroll is a way of life.”

I don’t care if he did one day and got the boot from regiment. A Ranger is a Ranger, and that can’t be taken away from him no matter what. I’m not a fan of his, but if he finished RIP and was assigned to the 75th, he earned the title. Ranger regiment doesn’t have a “qualification course”, and you don’t have to go to Ranger school to be a Ranger.

Yeah, I'm quite familiar with the difference between the school/tab and the 75th Regiment. My last couple of units had more than a few former Ranger bat guys, and a lot of guys who'd been to the school and rocked the tab. I appreciate your lecture on what serving with "The Regiment" means, though. I get where you're coming from, really I do. That said . . .

When you’re in, you’re in.

. . . uh, in his case after two months he was very much out. A few months later he was out of the Army entirely, not at his choice, and barred from re-enlistment.

Or you can have it your way. Ranger hooah and all that.

Trying to say someone isn’t a Ranger that WAS a Ranger is like saying someone didn’t graduate from high school or college just because you don’t like them. It doesn’t work that way. You can call him a “former” Ranger or whatever, but IF he finished RIP and was assigned to one of the battalions, he WAS a Ranger and no amount of butthurt anti Burger acolytes can take that from him.
Like I said, I’m no fan of his, but we aren’t playing this game where you can selectively decide who earned the title and who didn’t, ESPECIALLY anyone that wasn’t in regiment, the army, or even the military in general. Be mad all you like. I’m not “lecturing” you. If he finished RIP and was in the unit, he was a Ranger, and that’s a FACT. I don’t care if he killed puppies and drove around flipping off old ladies, you don’t get to rewrite history because someone chaps your ass.

I guess you are the local expert on fake qualifications. We'll note your opinion.

Opinel + Morakniv + Victorinox

Douk-Douk + Mercator + Higonokami

Great Eastern Cutlery + Case + Queen/S&M.

Those are legitimate triumvirates.

I am nowhere remote to a CRK fan, but the others never held a candle to CRK. It's mind-blowing how thicker stock and high school level male-fantasy creative writing can trick a whole market of buyers.

We have moved to a new generation of precision and variety, and amongst the sea of titanium framelocks, it is clearly Koenig, Olamic and WE that emerged triumphant and triumvirate.

I don't know much about the company/owner past - but I have had a few strider SNGs before my switch to traditionals. None were worth the $400+ price. One had awful lock stick/centering and the other the worst lock/rock and blade play of almost any knife I have ever had. I never tried another......

RIP = Ranger Indoctrination Program

I graduated RIP in October of 2000 that let me go to ranger school, I failed mountain phase twice I’m not a Ranger in any sense of the word. I passed jump school the month before yet was never assigned to any Airborne unit therefore I’m not nor ever was a paratrooper even though I was Airborne qualified just like most light infantrymen.

RIP/RASP =/= Ranger
SFAS =/= Special Forces

even if you were assigned to bat or group

Ah man, see that’s peculiar to me because I spoke with a few sergeants major that spent the majority of their careers in regiment, one of which ran RIP and the other did serve as cadre as Ranger school at one point, and THEY told me that you need to try and graduate Ranger school if you’re E-5 or higher... ESPECIALLY if you serve in a leadership position, but not all PFCs and SPCs in regiment are Ranger school grads.

Also, I know several people in regiment right now and I can call and confirm. So I think you’re confused.

Also: SFAS isn’t RIP or RASP. They are two different organizations with two different mission sets, so don’t compare them here. Getting SELECTED at SFAS puts you in the pipeline for Q course, and completion of the Q course gets you the SF qualification.

Again, not all rangers have been to Ranger school, and going to Ranger school does not make you a Ranger.

I think you need to call them RIP/RASP are the qualification school to attend ranger school..SFAS is the school you need to pass to attend SFQC i.e they’re both qualification courses.

In the end you’re wrong, posted chit that was wrong and it’s time to move out.

No, YOU’RE flat out wrong, and I can find all the sources I need to prove you wrong. In fact, it’s posted on the INTERNET, for alllllll here to see that you do not in fact need to graduate RS to be a Ranger.. that being IN the regiment makes one a Ranger.
Enjoy, and get your story straight:

There are plenty of rangers with scrolls for combat patches that haven’t graduated ranger school.
