Okay, folks, let's see 'em. :) I'll start out with mine...

Scoutclock.jpg

Behold, the Scout Clock!

12 is a Remington, with the Tillman opener. 11 is an unofficial Landers, Frary and Clark, with the Universal etch. 10 is my Ulster Dwight Devine, with the etch, 9 an early 3-blade unofficial "Scout" shield Imperial. 8 is a made in USA 4-blade, sometime between the wars. 7 is a USA-shield Camillus, which I found in BRL's book as WW2 issue. 6 has a mid-50s Camillus whittler, 5 an Imperial Diamond Edge (unofficial), 4 a 1950s Imperial in pearl cell, 3 the hot-stamped Imperial of the late 40s, 2 a 1980s white Imperial, and 1 my old Camillus.

Not a bad set, I think. What else have ye?

Oops, ignore me, I misunderstood the use of "scout", I was thinking the pattern, not "Boy Scout"..my Remington R4 ain't no B.S. knife.

Here's a couple I've posted before...

You guys have some neat looking ones. I especially like the Remingtons, bet those cost a pretty penny.

S&S - Do you have more clocks? The Dwight Devine is a Scout model 1502, correct?

I'm just starting in this game. I've shown my hand before, but here it is again. Dwight Devine, Scout model 1503. In the right light I can barely se the outline of the Scout shield etch.

I'm with you sunburst, I don't have a single one to show on this "show-and-tell"-thread either.
And I do like the ones shown here!!!

Need to get me one or some.

Aha, Scout knives! As a newbie to this knife collecting lark I haven't bought anything yet....however I did inherited some from my father when he cleared up his collections (orders from She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed!!).
One of the knives was an Imperial Scout knife, sadly I haven't had the time to photograph it yet but in a couple of weeks.

As an ex-Scout I have decided to go for Scout knives as a main part of my knife collecting.

Thanks for showing all you knives, it has really given me the incentive to 'go for it'!

I'm a newby to collecting, so I don't have much. I found this Hibbard, Spencer, Barlett & Co scout knife at a yard sale. Not as nice as some of stag-handled ones (drool!), but it was obviously well-loved. If anyone can tell me anything more about it, I'd appreciate it.

Fairly early, I'd say prior to 1935. Why? In 1921-1922 the first "official" Scout knives started hitting the market, and the BSA started aggressively defending their trademark. While they don't have rights to the word "Scout", they did and do have the rights to "Scout knife". In 1935, there were several landmark court decisions that made most unofficial knives marked Scout go away.

Take a look at that 11 o'clock knife. It's an LF&C "Scout", made before the crackdown and also before they had rights to the official one starting in the 20s.

Interesting! Do you have any idea who the maker might be? As I understand it, HSB was a big mailorder hardware store in Chicago and had their knives made by a number of different makers over the years.

Okay,

As far as non "scout" scout knives, here are a few. This first one is a rehandle job I did:

And here is an experiment I tried with an SAK:

And here are some random ones that I had taken pics of before:

Here's one I just got in. Imperial made these, they were called Tu-Tone...

Boy, you guys have some great scouts! A very enjoyable thread.
I bought this one a while back because I'm always sniffing around for unusual punches. The punch is actually a gouge for whittling, but its manufacture is similar to a punch. I was disappointed when I got it, because I thought the two blades were worn/tipped, but the main is actually full length. It barely clears its cutout behind the gouge, and the "coping" blade is purpose-shaped for woodcarving, so the blades are full!
A Cattaraugus Whitt-L-Kraft, the blade etch is faint but complete, and the knife is 3 7/16", so a smaller knife. Locking screwdriver with a brass stud in it!

Darn Rivit, that one Remington is just like the one our Scoutmaster, Mr. Van always carried. Brings back very old and fond memories. :)

That old HS&B scout was most likely made by Camillus in the late 30s/early 40s. Here is a WW2 vintage scout thats nearly identical except for the black scales. Its marked with the Camillus 4 line stamp on one side of the master blade and Sword Brand on the other. The screwdriver in the HS&B has been reshaped, but all the others are the same including the punch. Same shield too. This is one has an unusually thick (for a typical scout knife) master blade, 1/8" at the tang, with a very strong spring.
