Scout knife callout!

The occasion of this thread had me looking at my BSA knives, and I noticed something I had never noticed before. A Camillus BSA "Whittler" I have is flat ground on one side and saber ground on the other. Not silly at all in a wood-working knife, but I never noticed it before.

Here is my Ulster Boy Scout knife circa 1973. That was the year I received it. A present from my siblings. It is well worn from being well used.

Here is a Girl Scout knife I was given by a friend. He found it somewhere.

It is a Kutmaster.

My daughter saw all the nice scout knives and asked to show her collection.

So here it is:

Nice stuff and great she is collecting it.

Imperial I think. 54-74 part of Vittl-Kit

Utica Kutmaster (w/ lock) early 60's

Utica Kutmaster 51-52, although sold as late as 62. But if the shield is held on by one rivet (can't tell) probably older

Schrade 32-53 part of Vittl-Kit came in leather case Older than Dad? :D

"Ulster USA" (Imperial Associated Knife Companies) circa 1960's-1990.

'Course the "old" "Ulster" (Dwight Devine) closed its doors in 1941. They made some seriously cool BSA knives from 1923-1940.

Now, with the death of Camillus, the same BSA model is marked "CHINA." :o

At least the Cub knife is made in R.I., U.S.A. (by Colonial).

Does Imperial Associated Knife Companies = Schrade? I have seen pics the old Dwight Devine scouts and they are very cool. I would love to have one.
BSA knives being made in China is a real shame. I thought that Case made some now?

I have only tried to keep track of companies while they were making official BSA knives.

In 1984, Schrade became a brand of Imperial Associated Companies. Under that ownership, a few BSA Schrade models were made, including the sorta' repro in 1985 of the original 1911 New York Knife Co. "Hammer" brand BSA knife.

I keep hearing that Bear & Son Cutlery makes BSA knives, but I have never seen one and their site does not mention making BSA knives.

Colonial, as noted, makes the Cub Scout, 3-bladed, knife.

Effective January, 2006, Case has a license to mark some of their models as BSA knives, but they do not make the classic "Scout" utility pattern. That's a "CHINA" knife with the typical (for them) rounded over edges on the screw driver.

Found a NIB discontinued Case 650045R SS this afternoon at the local gun and knife show, got it for $30, couldn't turn that good a price down. The "five blader" has a pliers for the fifth piece, and I like how the third layer makes the knife feel thick and hefty. Wasn't the sharpest knife in the world out of the box, but I fixed that in a few minutes. Scout type knives are pretty cool, I need MORE MORE MORE!:D
