Scratch your knife up challenge: Winner announced

Before one can know a broom corn knife, one must first know a broom corn.... Haha you have to fill me in. That looks like Andy's first knife.

Locally I am more familiar with the types of sorghum used for fodder and silage, and the sweet sorghums used to make sorghum molasses. It was one of the old staples here in Tennessee years ago, and there are still a couple of places here locally that make sorghum molasses. Then I've read up on it later during my survival studies and experiments after stumbling across some of the UTC agriculture dept. sorghum grain experiments on one of the WMA areas here, and learned of it's use as grains and cereals in India and Asia. Historically it is a very significant plant, though the broom variety was one I had forgotten about.

It doesn't bug me at all, and just means I need to use my knife more more more!

I'm just baffled at how it happened, here in my little life.

One of my daughters gave me a Moment macro lens (for my iDevice) to play with. :)

(Just realized that I can take the distance/outside cone thingy off, or the following images wouldn't be blurry. A work in progress.)

Been using it as a steak knife?

Nope!

looks like tape residue to me. Probably wipe right off with some WD-40

Aha-- You're right, upon further investigation, "tape residue" is definitely involved...

... but something also scritched the blade:

Must've run into a staple or some other untoward material whilst de-taping something.

I can play this game. . .

The patch and hiking buddy have been edc'd and used alot over the last year or so. From remodeling to butchering Bambi neither has failed me.

The patch has become my favorite EDC for GP work, like stripping wire, trimming drywall and assorted utility work. The drop point gives a little extra curve in the blade that makes a big difference with many tasks.

If I was going on a strictly out of doors day, I might choose the HB.

Three years on the hop farm. . .still going strong.
Mow, chop, hack, even cut up a the odd roast or pizza.
