SDFK is Glorious

Digging up a couple old posts here. This was me, ~4 months ago:

This essentially sums up my feelings now:

Originally, I thought the SDFK was supposed to be the poor man's substitute for the now hard to get HDFK...and since I bought an HDFK from one of the members here, I figured, okay, I can move along and pretty much let this one pass.

But for some reason, all the accolades and raves for the SDFK, and later the signature series, got the juices flowing and I found that the little voice in my ear was becoming harder to ignore.

Turns out I was completely off. I can't speak to the "standard" SDFK, but the signature series, (as I suspect is the case for the original SDFK), is nobody's idea of a redheaded stepchild. This knife shines in every respect...compared to anything in its class.

Goes to show how wrong first impressions can be. Mea culpa.

(I know you already knew this. But confession is good for the soul. Or so they say.)

I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. 🤣 🤷‍♂️ Though I don't yet have either version of SDFK in my hands, it was a bad idea to think I could pass them up. Next thing you know, I'm going to be needing to check out some DEK... 😆

I'm a n00b here and have enjoyed reading the community's posts, which convinced me that I needed a CPK in my life. Nathan's videos also showed me his passion for and mastery of the craft, not to mention the real-world performance that his knives provide. Originally had my eyes on a DEK1 or DEK2 but somehow ended up with an SDFK on-order with the 10Feb sale. I knew it existed but was eyeing the BFK instead. Haven't even gotten to the payment stage yet and I'm already anticipating the next sale. Cue narrator..."And that was the moment he realized that his wallet... was no longer safe."

Is that natural micarta? I wish my scales had that color! Mine are a reddish brown which isn't my favorite. Almost every natural micarta I see is a bit different in color. Most inconsistent coloring of any scale I've seen (doesn't matter which maker it comes from).

It’s green canvas micarta, there’s different shades of that color but since it’s not the color of the scales on my knife that actually cuts I don’t really care 👍

I later wondered if it might be green canvas since the two on the right had a slight greenish tint to them, but that one on the left is noticeably more tan and I guess I focused on that one more initially.

They all look good though! 👍

Did you mod the bottom one to add a lanyard attachment as it appears?
