Sebenza 21 lube choice . . .

Question here so I don't have to search or start another thread . . . my last 21 came with a sweet Damacus custom clip. I love the clip, but the under tip that touches my suit pants is somewhat rough which will wear the material in that spot. I might try and smooth it out with 2000 grit sandpaper but:
Does CRK charge for another OEM clip (I get them for free from BM)?

I just picked up another 21 here 30 min ago, so I might just swap the custom clip to the new one and put the OEM one on my other 21.
I was on the hunt for my 3rd to be a gold or blue hex, but when I saw this posted this AM I was smitten :D

Nano is snake oil. It's expensive mineral oil with added junk that's not even necessary in folders. Not worth going out of your way to get it.

Just curious if this is based on some type of test results?

The reason I ask is that, several years ago, I was looking for a lubricant for a non-knife related purpose and a friend recommended the Nano-Oil 10W. I read a lot about it online at the time, trying to separate the truth from the marketing hype, and it seemed like people were divided into two camps ("snake oil" and "best lube ever"). I didn't see anything particularly objective on either side, though, so I bought a tube. It works pretty well, but, honestly, I can't say I see much difference compared to other lubricants I have used (such as Benchmade Blue Lube). I do still use it sometimes, as the applicator needle is pretty handy for tight spots, but I am a little skeptical about the claims...

It's a good idea, in my opinion, to start a new thread for something off topic. That will help others who are searching for specific information in the future.

Its completely snake oil marketing. The mineral oil with little specs of whatever in it, are useless. It's basically just mineral oil. The additive is not doing anything.

They have zero data shown and all the tests they do are tests that are used to pull over ones head. Ie snake oil.

There have been many threads on now defunct forums about this and the drama of this company. I wish they were still around so I could link and quote them.

Most folks learned by researching and not expecting valuable information placed in their lap. You should try it, I bet you’ll come across some good stuff and enjoy the pics that are hidden in these threads

I understand how hard that was for you to type that out rather than just to say "CRK sells pocket clips" separately. And how valuable that bit of information must be
I have a lot of other interests and there is only 24 hours in my day :D

On the pocket clip I just found this site that sells custom clips for the Subenza. I prefer to use only deep carry clips especially with a Subenza as the tip of a $550 knife sticking out of my pocket is a sucker play, especially in a crowd. You get bumped by a pick pocket and the knife is history.
(Non supporting dealer link removed- Please read the rules )

Deep carry or not. The secondary bend on the standard clip makes it more secure where it grabs the seam of your pants. So there are essentially two contact points you must overcome to take it out.

Yes deep carry will hide it but will not make it more secure. It's one or the other really.

If im walking in a crowd or somewhere I'm not comfortable it will be in the bottom of my pocket.

OK, thanks for that input. I was just looking at the clips on their site. You are correct on the secondary bump. That worries me. The Damacus clip that came on my 21 has no secondary bump either its like totally straight which I spotted that right off. And worse it carries even higher out of my pocket and Im in an office enviroment daily. I dont want to be known as the guy with the knife . I have a custom clip coming for a benchmade I own. I might shop around to find a custom clip maker who can possible make a deep pocket clip with that double OEM bump. That extra bump is something for me to weigh out. Looks like they get $33 a clip with free shipping over $45 and I need two anyway, if I go that route. Or find someone to custom make 2 clips with a double bump deep pocket style.

How long do you think a CRK would last hanging and showing in your pocket walking the main sreet of las vegas. Each time I go there it seems like more and more people and probably more and more pick pocketers.

Did I mention when I read your posts I get a little bit if anxiety. Lol. For real.

Buy a few different types and sell what doesn't work perhaps. Good luck.

Im giving the plain jane to my son, so I want his to be secure in his pocket. For your anxiety issue take a prozak or smoke a joint. I just light up a cigar :D

I like to keep a clear head these days. But thanks. I keep control of my anxiety at times by being hyper active or stropping a knife. ;)

I've never been to Vegas or a Casino. I might some day.
I dont even gamble. I'm a stock broker, so every days a gamble for me :D. But vegas is an adult disneyland. You should not miss taking at least a weekend there someday, flights and hotels are pretty cheap. Some of the restaurants are amazing, the shows are great and most of the hotels are amazing just to walk around, especially the newer ones. 2 years ago, And I went there for 6 days by myself and one of those days I took a helicoper tour over the Hoover Dam and then it flew onto the Grand Canyon. Then it landed on the floor of the canyon and the pilot pulled out picnic basket lunch with champagne. Best $150 I've every spent. Although I cant recommend it anymore as one of their copters crashed 2 months ago killing everybody I think. Last month another copter crashed into NY's Hudson river killing and drowning 5 tourists and only the captain somehow escaped. So stay on the ground if you go to vegas and watch the pretty girls. They have a few there (so I hear).

Yes. Oddly enough, we all deal with the same 24 hour per day limit. Somehow we manage to learn through reading and research.

The standard CRK clip is still one of the best clips made. They don't need to be "improved" upon, yet that's your intent with many defining elements of the Sebenza. That's why I suggested you look at different knives, a suggestion you chose to be offended by.

So far you've wanted to change the lock bar pressure, the detent, the washers, the lube, the action, the "blade coating" and the clip of two different specimens of Sebenza. Now a third Sebenza is inbound. Some critical introspection might be useful at this point. Just sayin'.

Regarding after-market clips; I've used several different MXG Gear clips and although deep carry, they'd be less secure. The Millit clips look great but feel a little rigid to me. I've got one stored somewhere that I quit using a while ago.

Slow down. Use your Sebenzas. Enjoy your Sebenzas. Dull them and resharpen then. Cut boxes until you get a blister, tape up the blister then cut until you get another one. Dude, you've got THREE friggin Sebenzas and you've NEVER USED ONE! This is a knife that begs to be used and all you want to do is tinker with it and "make it better". I think you're determined to love a Sebenza because it's what you've decided you want clipped to your pants but can't seem to understand why others like them.

...but, you'll ignore or reject anything that doesn't meet your preconceptions.

This was a most enjoyable read for the topic of Sebenza 21 lube!
Yes, sorry! You are absolutely right. I strayed off topic. I should not have asked about the clip thing in the same thread as another poster also mentioned if I start another thread its easier for us new members to search out an answer.
I was just trying to avoid starting, yet another thread. A quick response from someone could have ended it quickly, but no cigar!
Once again, sorry to go off topic and Im still such a Rube here :(
