Thanks for the update. Mistakes can happen in any business. When they do, the reputation of the business relies on how swiftly and efficiently the problem is rectified. I'm happy to hear that Chris Reeve has maintained his mark for outstanding customer service.
I will say, however, that your last post should have likely been your first post on the matter. This thread would have taken a much different tone if all the facts were in from the beginning.
Okay, well here it comes..........UPDATE!
So, Angela called me today. She apologized for the hassle, as did I for seeming upset in my included note to them. It seems, after Chris looked over the knife himself, that there was indeed a problem. She said they were not exactly sure what had happened, but it seems somehow they mixed up the blades, and ended up giving me a used one instead, after the spa treatment. Then, it seems whoever assembled the knife, DID in fact listen to my note NOT to sharpen it, so he left it the way it was, used and dull. The only problem, was that it wasn't my blade that was put back on my handles. Both CRK and I know that the handles were mine.
Angela told me she apologizes for the mix up, and they are having a new blade fitted to my knife today, in order to give me the earliest lock up possible, although she did remind me that the knives lately are coming with a bit later lock up in general from the factory.
So, once again to some of you that think I am trying to pull a fast one on CR, or thinks they know more than me about my knife, or whatever the case....You are wrong. And, I never wanted to start an argument, with anyone. Just wanted to vent my grief with my experience that again, seems pretty rare but does happen and can happen with any company. Just sucks it happened to me with my first CR knife.
Anyway, I am happy, and told Angela how happy I was to hear that they know the mistake was on their side, and that I wasn't going crazy. After all this talk from some of you guys, I was beginning to wonder....
and again I thank you for those of you who actually tried to help me out with advice, and to the other SILLY boys, thanks for your opinions.
Seems mistakes can happen, and oh yea.....Chris and Angela didn't seem to think that I was pulling a fast one.....and its insulting to get accused of that. so again, even though its nice to hear opinions, trying to condemn me for something I didn't do, or just plain trying to start arguments and bs on here is just immature. have a great day. Good to know CRK stands behind their knives, and I WILL continue to be a future customer and carry my sebenza.
It is a shame though, that some people here do try to start trouble hiding behind their little computer screens on forums like this, when all we want to all share in is our love of knives. This place is a great place to learn, get advice, help others, etc. Lets keep it that way gentlemen.
Again, to those that did lend a good word or a bit of advice, I do sincerely appreciate the help, and it did help me to vent on here. And, its makes me happy to have the good news about CR and my knife!
p.s. the OCD thing is funny. Im a bit compulsive, its not a crime, nor is it something I should or will ever for your sake, feel ashamed of. So thanks again for the support in this community...
I can only speak for me, but I never thought or suggested you were trying to pull a fast one. I did and do think you made a nearly epic stink about this whole thing by posting a series of what certainly came off as public rants (when a few phone calls to the source would have worked better toward the solution).
As for hiding behind a screen name, I'm not sure who you mean. I know several of the people that have posted in this thread, because they are friends I have come to know over years of mutual sharing of true personalities...but like yours, their screen name gives little info. But since you bring it up, why must anyone be held to a different standard than you? You vented your frustrations quite clearly, should no one else be allowed the same?
I'm glad you are getting things sorted out with your knife and CRK. It is really an odd twist of events that seems to have aligned out of your favor (truly). I hope you are very happy with it when you get it back.
I'm just looking forward to the next episode, who knows what will happen with his knife next time and how many threads it might need.......
Seriously though, I'm glad it's worked out. It all seems like a bit of a mess that was largly out of your control, but it could and should have been far more quietly delt with.
Thanks for the update, I'm glad that everything worked out.
I think you and I have a similar ability to observe details and a similar annoyance when things aren't as close to perfect as you want or expect. I've learned that there are those on these forums that will take any perceived criticism of their favorite company as an attack and will defend via offense. I try to be careful how I phrase my worried questions and concerns, although I'm sure sometimes I'm not as successful as I'd like to be.
It's good to know that the dull blade was due to a simple human error and not that that's how they resharpen and return spa blades.
I just can't wait to get my knife back..

Haze is spot on "There isn't a single "problem" here you didn't create yourself as far as I see it. This has got well beyond silly and then some....Your knife is not destroyed in any way, just stop it and get a grip of yourself, man. "
You say "But, OCD.....YES!!!! I never said I wasn't compulsive just a bit, and it is probably evident in other posts of mine over the years. But, again thats me, and sometimes even leads to a bit of pride " Being OCD is a problem not something to be proud of. It means you cannot control negative impulses in your life that lead to problems with people and functioning.
Maybe this is all a scam, you goobered up the knife yourself and this pity party is trying to get them to waive the charges to rehabilitate it.
