Sebenza 31 Converts?

I hadn't heard that reference before either, but that was the thought that came to mind. Opening them reminded me of using my AeroPress. There's no rushing it, but once the motion is started and the (slight) pressure kept on, it continues to open without jerkiness until the final click.

Thanks.
Oh, I thought you realized that I was being facetious and that "hydraulic" is a well worn description of the action and has been for years.

Or, are you pulling my leg? (I haven't had my coffee yet.)

The test drive large 31 from Kettleman Kettleman is out for delivery. 🎊

Just heading home from some light surgery, so I'll be on the couch playing with it once it arrives. 😁
Feel better, WW. The large 31 should be a nice way to distract yourself from the discomfort of the procedure. Look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Sorry to hear about the procedure. Hopeful the L31 keeps your mind off it. Can’t wait to hear what you think. I didnt bother cleaning it up for you, its a working knife that I know you are going to work with.

Be well

I think my new S31 may be getting some pocket carry time. Here is a comparison of some of what I have in pocket size: SAK Cadet, Buck 501, Buck 301, LionSteel BestMan, CRK S31, Buck 500. The clip may make it need the sheath, but that will also smooth the edges of printing. It will be interesting to see how it is day to day.

Noticed that the pivot on my 31 needed a little snugging, about an 1/8 a turn. When I received it, I broke it down gave it a fresh greasing and applied the CRK supplied loctite - no biggie it's been opened plenty.

Not the first time with CRK's I have had to give them a little snug, but mostly it has been the stop pin (on a 21 in particular).

Thanks guys, it wasn't for anything cool... Just a vasectomy. I'm going to listen to the doctor spend the day with an ice pack.

The large 31 arrived safely today. It's definitely an awesome knife, quite a lot larger than I was picturing. The action, compared to the small 31 when new, is quite a lot smoother. Kettleman Kettleman informed me that it's still sporting the factory edge, which is in a word, impressive. I'll get some pictures up later, connectivity issues during the afternoon make it a pain sometimes.

I agree with your thoughts. My small 31 was (and still is) a bit difficult to operate when compared to a 21. The large 31 may indeed become my new favorite. It's growing on me quickly.

This morning I cleaned it for the first time, greased it fairly heavily, and added a touch of WC oil in the action. It's a whole different knife now. Smooooooth. In a month it should be like butta.

Definitely digging on the large. It's funny how fast one forgets the coarseness of the bead blast on the titanium. At this point I'm still harboring a sneaking preference for the small, moreso because I like to take the clip off and carry it right in the pocket. I can however see the large as being a one knife solution to all of ones needs.

A few days in the pocket will tell me a bit more.

Hope you get feeling better and that 31 can provide a little distraction. :)
I missed this earlier, then forgot to reply. Thank you, getting acquainted was indeed a nice distraction... Not that it's all that bad. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to doctors visits.

Every time I need to have blood work done I'm afraid some poor nurse is going to have to pick me up off the floor. Then I'll cut myself at work, wrap it in blue shop towels and electrical tape and keep working... I guess our idiosyncrasies are what make us unique.

That's because when people in this sub-forum get cut it's likely to be from a CRK, and we are immune to CRKs.

I'm sure others have told you, but don't sweat the procedure. It isn't that bad. I'd liken it to getting a wisdom tooth pulled. One afternoon of discomfort, a couple days of taking it easy, and you'll be right-as-rain. Good luck!

That explains that awesome pocket washed finish your small has!
