Sebenza VS Lochsa.... What are your impressions?

My two cents.
I own lochsa over a year and own small sebbie a little longer. Lochsa has been my EDC since day 1, and in my opinion it's one of the most elegant and well built folders out there. I own and/or handles significantly more expensive custom folders and Lochsa's quality and craftsmanship is second to none.

As of Lochsa vs. Sebenza, I think comparison is ok. After all they are built using similar, or almost identical materials and concepts. Comparign Lochsa to Kukri would be less interesting and informative.

Lochsa build quality and craftsmanship is better.
I don't see how blade geometry is identical or nearly identical compared to Large Sebie. They're quite different, and IMHO Lochsa's wider blade has its advantages in terms of cutting.

Handle - Lochsa is definitely a winner here. Contoured, integral handle is unique design from Scot, and very nicely done, functional and very elegant. Fits hand very well.

Blade material - You can choose S30 or S90 for your Lochsa. Mine is S90 e.g and I am very pleased with its performance. I don't want to go into that debate again, but there were a lot of controversial talks around CRK choice of S30V heat treatment.

In the end, I guess it's a matter of taste :) I kow some people consider Lochsa to be an ugly knife, some more think the same of Sebbie... There are a lot of people out there(including me) who think Lochsa is just beaufitul knife and so on. To each his own.
But, Scott is a very talanted knifemaker and does deserve a lot of credit for his inovative and very high quality works.

I own both knives and I wouldn't part with either one. I consider them both a well made gentleman's tactical folder. Either one carries well in the back pocket of khakis. Unlike my SNG which is better suited for blue jeans/BDU's. I think, of the two, the Sebenza has a stouter feel to it. The relief cut into the titanium, that gives the lock its spring, is probably twice as thin on the Lochsa than on the Sebenza. My favorite things about the Lochsa are the unique pivot and the very nice hand rubbed finish. I really like S30V among other things especially for its resistance to sweat. Quite often when I have been working hard I have pulled out my knife to see it covered in moisture beads. With the s30v I've never had a corossive moment. It keeps a nice edge too.

Gator summed it up pretty well. Both are great knives but the Lochsa is my off duty EDC. If I ever go into a situation where there is even a small chance I might lose my knife, I go for the large plain Sebenza. Why? It is replaceable. Not so for my Lochsa. I wonder how Scott can afford to sell it so inexpensively? I'm not a knifemaker but it must take a lot of time and effort to make the Lochsa. :D  ;) :p
