Does this look like a hamburger to you unwisefool unwisefool ?!

You cannot find one of these, you cannot buy one anywhere else. But all you have to do is say “yes, I want one,” and Barry gunstockjack gunstockjack will kindly mail it to you. You know you want one. This is your chance! Let’s not miss out on this. There will never be another opportunity like this one.

I’m holding my nose while writing this, but…

If we are talking collectibility and value - this provides a one of a kind opportunity to have something that has never been done produced.

Personally, as soon as the knife arrives, I hope to throw it in my pocket, cut a steak with it later, and trim my cigar after dinner - all while enjoying a dram of Scotland’s finest.

Never been a fan of carnivals…

Prepare to be shocked B BrotherJim . I’ll certainly buy a Hemlock Sawcut Barlow. My hope is that it is spectacular and that it has a beautiful reddish mahogany base with lighter complimentary colors along the edges and near the bolster shooting off in every direction. I want it to be great, and I can understand that it might very well be. No one will be happier than me if it is a home run. I also can understand through reason and common sense that it might just be mostly black and monotone. I don’t believe only the things I want to believe. You cannot know that Darren’s mock ups are wrong or that Bill Howard did not mean what he said. Everyone is entitled to all of the information they can get in making a decision, and everyone is entitled to express their opinion.

It was interesting to read that only 340 knives, all of them Barlows, have been made in Sawcut Copperhead and none since 2016. They have become collectors items of the highest order. They are virtually unobtainable, but all we have to do to get one is vote for it.
And no HEMLOCK has been produced in any form since 2017 and exactly ZERO are available right now and high or low, nowhere to purchase.
Either HEMLOCK just as much a collectors items of the HIGHEST order or they just aren't available like any other color or pattern from GEC ... unless for the most part, it's current production models hitting the secondary out of greed.

If a Barlow with TC or Nf stamped bolsters were on the menu, I would absolutely agree with you. But the grooved bolsters without stamping that we are getting call out for something deeper. Given my druthers, I would have loved an Nf copperhead Barlow like the one you posted. But that is not what we are getting.

We missed out on smooth bone. White bone. Red bone. And all the options that seemed appropriate for these bolsters except for _maybe_ hemlock.

Copperhead just seems very incongruous with the knife we are being offered. An utterly conventional Barlow scale for an unconventional fancy Barlow.

Can't buy a sawcut hemlock anywhere because it's never been made before, right? Posting a picture of some random woman doesn't make your case.

B BrotherJim , that girl is your Copperhead Brother Jim. Can’t you hear the siren song?

And my friend unwisefool unwisefool , let me first suggest you change your name.

Good grief guys, lighten up and have a little fun. Whatever knife we get will be an instant collector’s item whether you like it or not. One is reddish brown. The other is blackish brown. The world is not going to turn on this selection. We will all be just fine. Just don’t lose your sense of humor. You can use the knife, put it in the freezer, or throw it on the roof of your shed to rust like Modoc ED Modoc ED . No one will say a word. We all have different opinions and preferences, usually pretty strong ones, and that is perfectly okay! I will take the Ginger and you two can take Slash. We will all be happy.

Taken this very morn on the eve of decision...in natural light....I simply plonked them down ...no quarter given or taken by either....OK its antique amber NOT actual Copperhead.....seems like a different name to discern between the two is the only way to tell them apart...
So...who would rather go to the gaudy Copperhead carnival sideshow with a greasy hotdog and deep fried cheese on a stick? ...and who would visit the understated, classy, stately, Art Gallery where a calming amble through a darkened hallway leads to a pleasing sublety of deep lesther lounge chairs and cigar box undertones....?
You had me at cigar!😂👍

But is this knife supposed to be a collectors item? I thought it was supposed to be a unique, fun knife for the bladeforums crowd. Something different just for us. Not just to sit in a safe and marvel at how much it might be worth based on previous knives.
Sadly, there are a few that think that way and only want the valuable knife they can get.
Fortunately, I think that's a minority with our Porch Regulars who just want a cool knife... forever.

I would go back to smooth white or even red sawcut in a heartbeat. Hemlock is the best option I have left. These bolsters deserve class.

Know what I like? Nacho cheese on curly fries, like they have at the dirt track races. Which choice in the poll is that?

Art galleries are boring. There, I said it.

Has GEC ever even done a long pull except for their Northfield UN-X-LD line? ... 'cause I don't know
I think a long pull would look nicest on the big 86 ... especially with a Fancy Bolster (in the works)
It's not standard but there have been plenty of Tidioute knives with long pulls. Here's an oldie 68 Tidioute in Rust Red.
