September 2022 Buck of the Month 112 Ranger Pro with Blk ckote s30V clip, Blk G10 scales, AL frame

Thanks Jeff.
I think I may have read somewhere that the frame on the July 2020 take-apart 112 was bigger due to the screws. (I've never really liked that knife due to the bigger frame).

I just am unsure that the take-apart knives built since are also larger, or are now the same size frame as the standard 112.

Aren't the distressed sheaths Made in USA?
I know the USA made sheaths are bigger.
I just tried a 7/20 BOTM in a standard, Made-in-Mexico, black sheath and it fit fine. Comparing it with a standard brass bolstered 112 they are identical as far as I can tell without breaking out the caliper. The bolsters are less rounded and that might make it fit tighter in an already tight sheath.

If Buck can move 1,000 knives AT RETAIL in a couple of days and let 'flippers' handle the job of selling to the final customer, us the collector, it's a home run for for the marketing department. I might not agree with it but it is what it is. It bothered me when build outs were scarfed up by just a few people back in 2010 to 2016 or so because I never had any chance at all to buy directly from Buck. Then the limit of 3 was was made policy. So many rare variations of 112's were made and I really chased them! But like all things times change and the BOTM is too.

I gotta grab that knife and compare it....
I really don't carry 112's much anymore, and when I do it's in a custom slip sheath that I cannot get that knife into....

Thanks guys.

As far as the current BOTM, I think it's cool. I like the blacked out theme.

My collection focus is elsewhere, and I have more users than time..... So maybe I'll buy diesel fuel instead.
😉

I’m going to pass, I already have the botm 112 Koa wood aluminum frame with s45vn blade and I like it much better. I have the botm 112 scalloped cocobolo / NS frame with s35vn blade one of my favorite and a custom shop 112 brass and walnut with clip s30v blade and a 112 slim select so I’m good with 112s. I actually prefer the 110 size and I can get the sport models for a lot less and basically the same knife only different color.

Im still off work on short term disability and looking at another 4-6 weeks till the blood clot is dissolved and they can install a pacemaker and revert my heart rhythm to normal. Until then I’m on very limited income and budget.
Hang in there Les.
This site needs all the working guys it can get.😉👍😁

I'm sorry to hear about that Les. :(

For what it's worth... I've been feeling LOADS better since I had a pacemaker put in. Symptoms that I had been dealing with for years started going away. I didn't even know they were being caused by my heart. Life is more or less completely normal now, and no more waking up with a sub-30 heart rate. :D

You got this man.

Did they make you wear a Zio Patch for a month or so to get a baseline?

No I have a life vest defibrillator that I’m wearing until the clot is dissolved.

So…. You’re going from having an advanced piece of technology strapped to your chest, to having an even more advanced piece of technology implanted in your chest?

Don’t lie, I’m talking to Tony Stark aren’t I?

I like S30V for the blade steel. I don't like that the blade is coated black. I also dislike thumbstuds. I like the take apart frame. I don't like that it is made out of aluminum. It's to lite. I dislike pocket clips. I'm not fond of the black G10 scales. But since it's a take apart, those can be changed.

O.B.

Hard pass for me. They really need to rethink the Cerakote on blade strategy. "Form follows function", and when "normal wear and tear" is excluded from their warranty, they shouldn't give us something that will be a cosmetic mess after a few uses.

I have DLC 110s and TiN 110s that look as good as day 1. This Cerakote has no business on a blade.

After one day in use. I don't remember what I was cutting, but couldn't have been too rough because the edge is still sharp.

Painting a blade so you don't have polish it is cheapening the knife, IMHO.

C'mon guys....

I bit. I like the blackout look and since it is going into the collection the cerakote does not matter. For a user I would not have it. While there I picked up the 112 on the web specials page and some sheaths. I think Buck really missed the mark not putting 50th tang stamps on all 112 variants this year. Especially disapointing on LE's like the BOTM's.

Here we go. This feels nice. Solid, but not too heavy. The G10 inserts give a nice bit of grip. Blade is razor sharp out of the box. Blade doesn’t snap/flip open or drop closed - I don’t know if it will loosen up or not, but it’s a push-open like it is, and I’m ok with that. Kinda similar action to the Nobleman, maybe a tad stiffer. This one’s gonna be a user, I don’t care what the blade ends up looking like. It looks and feels too good to leave in the drawer. Definitely happy with this purchase.

Of course I bought one - I hate myself for it (supporting Bucks increased production of the BOTM) and it drives me crazy 'everyone' in the world has one : )

This thing is a beaut ! I like how the black finish on the bolsters looks like it has some texture, especially when compared to the bolsters of the July 2020 BOTM take apart which the finish is completely smooth looking.

Interestingly, the text of the COA has the "112 50th Anniversary pad print" which was removed from the description on the website.

Danny Linguini, your pictures are great but I think you will agree, this knife looks even better in person. So much so, I'm thinking about getting a second one !

Not moving all that fast, but only 116 left. Decisions decisions . . .

Oh yeah, it does look better in person. Feels better than any pictures could possibly portray, too.

Since you already hate yourself, you may as well just get that second one. 😁

If Buck offered a the Take-Apart in the Custom shop we all could build the one we really wanted. Just think about that! S45VN S30V S35VN in a drop point? I would pay very well for that choice or even just 420..If Buck really stepped up and offered the 110 or 112 Take-Apart with choices in handle, blade and frame it would get the collector base (at least me lolol) excited AND placing orders..I'm glad to see a 112 BOTM like this all Black one but how hard can it be to let us build one as fancy or plain as we want in the Custom shop?

I am super happy with this BOTM purchase. I am not a fan of blade coatings on knives I use, but I am only using this knife as part of my 112 collection. I have plenty others to use. This knife looks great!

I was just checking mine out and it’s light! I didn’t think it would feel like this and it’s pretty dang cool with that full blacked out look for sure! Like you, I don’t like coated blades but this one against all the other 112’s out there would stand out, that’s why I got it. It’s just something different and out of the wheelhouse for a knife in the 112 family.

Instead of coating the blades, it would have looked great with a satin belt finish to really make that blade pop!
