Shaman sprint run?

Sal mentioned on the Spyderco home forums that there are several in the works, but that's all the further he commented. There is a Rex 45 and Rosewood one coming soon.

You sure about this ? Second from the left:

My guess was a HAP40/SUS410 laminated pakkawood knifecenter exclusive. Which would be great, I would prefer it over Micarta ... Was wondering if somebody knew for sure.

Roland.

Sure? No, I'm not. But there was talk about it somewhere, I'll have to go search to figure out where it was. I'm pretty sure it was either right here in this thread, else possibly the companion thread on the Spydie home forums.

OK, the news of the Rosewood/REX45 broke over at the home Spydie forums HERE

Sal essentially confirms it HERE

That could very well be the knife in your screenshot.

Say no to soft SUS410. One cut of cardboard it scratches up like hell and looks ugly.

I don't think we will see much Japanese steel (e.g. Hap40) in Golden-built knives (e.g. Shaman).

Beat me to it. Even if it is a Knifecenter Pakkawood exclusive, they would likely need go with the USA made equivalent to Hap40, which is Rex45. And I wouldn't expect it to be laminated as that is a Japanese thing.

That one in the video is a Rosewood Rex45 knife from my understanding, and Sal said in one post on the Spyderco forum that he believes the scales are actual Rosewood.

I got a feeling the Rex 45 will be even harder to acquire. You think it will drop before the end of the year or early next year?

It might drop this year since we first saw the prototype at the same time as the Cruwear Micarta version.

I wouldn't expect it to have anywhere near the hype of the Cruwear Micarta version. Wood scales are a pretty niche market. And if they are real Rosewood who knows what the price will be?

The Cruwear Micarta Shaman was a perfect storm of pent up demand for folders in Micarta with tough 3V/4V/Cruwear class steels that hasn't even been touched yet. Crossover demand from the millions of Bark River (and LT Wright, CPK, Adventure Sworn, etc) owners who want a companion blade. It was more about the materials than the model.

I love Sal and team but when he says they had no idea that the demand for this model would be so high it makes my head spin!

lol!!! :D

I will be elated if the Rex-45/Rosewood goes into production and that will totally sooth this PITA situation with the CruWear/Micarta. I will take the former any day, and twice on Sunday, over the latter but that may just be me :)

bearfacedkiller bearfacedkiller Beauty of a knife. Your micarta handles really have some character. Careful not to cut that airline but feel free to remove the Ashcroft gauge anytime (they are a competitor of mine).
