Yeah, bulked up...but not necessarily on steroids was my thought. :)

Thanks Mat! Nope, not KC. Just some fortunate timing with another vendor on those small initial drops. Hopefully they’ll start dropping for real soon.

I love the LW manix but I tend to break things sometimes. So the Shaman is more than welcome ;)

What's odd is two vendors called me and cancelled my spot. Stating they only got 5-10 folders and no more were coming. Not sure what's up with that? I'm hoping that's just premier #s. Other vendors have not even recieved them yet. Who knows how this game works?..

Ha ha ha! I consider my Shaman my most heavy duty folder for a reason.
The Shaman is an EPIC camping folder. And it cuts well too!!!
Just Black G10 and S30V for now. Waiting for M390. Oh yes.

Congrats mb!

I've used my Manix XL a lot as a work knife. The Shaman looks like it could actually make my XL redundant.
Also, it reminds me of the Superleaf I never got.
 
I hope more KC preorders go through. The Manix 2 and Manix 2 LW have been my favourite spydercos, I have 4 of them. Eager to try a beefed up manix 2 with a comp lock.

Mine arrived this evening. I've already swapped out the backspacer for a pair of standoffs from a Military (thinking I'd get some custom ti standoffs for the Military, only to then discover that the ones I'd been looking at are only for pre-2017 Militaries - - oops - - if anyone knows a good source of after-market Military standoffs, please let me know).

Anyway, back to the Shaman - I bought the original Shaman model when it came out, but wasn't wowed by s30v and found it a bit too handle heavy for a knife I'd naturally use mostly in the choked up position. The cruwear version I have now is pretty much perfect for this knife - with the micarta handles and without the backspacer, it balances right at the stop pin, and I really like canvas micarta handles and wish they were available on more folding knives.

The blade is quite similar to the Manix (I mean the original Manix, not the slimmer Manix 2) - the cutting edge length is around 2-3mm shorter, but the overall package is much more compact and lighter. If I get some time in the coming days, I'll post a couple of pictures.

The Shaman isn't the heaviest duty folding knife I own, but it could well be the toughest duty folder I have in its weight class (probably about 4.5oz without the backspacer). Great working knife.

I’m really hoping my KC preorder gets filled. Did you Mic those Military standoffs and see if they were the same width as the shaman standoffs? I’m just curious. Or did you just eyeball it?

Also, here is a screenshot from MXG Gear, they have Military standoffs for you.

Those were the standoffs I was looking at, but they’re only got the pre-2017 Military.

I didn’t mic the standoffs. I’d read somewhere that they’d fit, so I just went for it.
 
I wish there was a better way to get these special sprint runs in the hands of us who desire them the most without the unauthorized scalpers getting involved. I have no issue with selling a knife at fair market value but it seems like some of the speculative nature of sprint runs could be avoided.

Before a dealer places a contract for a sprint with Spyderco can they not take preorders? It’d help them raise the capital to order the knives and it’d be a way for people in the knife community to get in on the knife without taking time away from work and crashing the servers.

I just looked and the Military and Shaman have the same Blade thickness of 0.145”. So I would also assume the standoffs are the same thickness too. I’m sure they use the same bronze washers across the entire line of knives.
