Shaman sprints - any news?

I will say Elmax would make it a decent option and give an option comparable to the recently discontinued Lionspy series.

Blade Sizes:

Shaman:
Blade: 3.61"
Edge: 3.12"
Thickness: 0.145"

Lil Lionspy:
Blade: 3.12"
Edge: 2.96"
Thickness: 0.157"

Lionspy:
Blade: 3.625"
Edge: 3.55"
Thickness: 0.18"

3V is my #1 choice, followed by 4V, Cruwear, and M4 and M390. I don't know much about PD1, but based on the popularity of responses here, I need to do some research on it.

I would love to see DLT do a run in the red G10 M390 combo, and BHQ do a run in M4/Jade. A gray Cruwear sprint probably makes sense as well. And even Peel Ply CF with 52100 would be a must have.

But for something new and out of this world..I vote for 3V with a dark green translucent G10. So like the same G10 as the Worker sprint, but semi-translucent like the blurple S110V and DLT red PM2.

Finally, I also enjoy matte canvas micarta scales. Green or Burgundy with a little texture for good grip. Not a fan of polished micarta. Matte textured Green or Burgundy canvas micarta with 3V would also be insanely awesome!!

PD1 is just Cruwear from a different foundry. That alloy actually has many names and has been around a long time.

I would be interested in 3v with a media blasted Micarta handle. Been a long time since there was a spyderco with a Micarta handle.

I meant 10v like the k2, 3v would be good to tho. Or cruwear. I think psf 27 would be an awesome choice for this knife as well

Lc200n on this beast of a blade with carbon fiber handles and rust resistant hardware and this knife is ready for anything. Compresssion or lock back would be fine with me.
Well, seeing as you asked...

I don't have a Shaman yet. I like your S30V well enough but have several folders with it already, and am waiting for something else in a Shaman.

My first choice in steel would be Elmax. Tough stainless with such a great balance of edge holding and ease of sharpening, for a strong tough user of a folder. My Elmax Para2 sees a lot of use and has very much influenced me here.

Based on the blade steels I have used I would certainly be happy with M390/S90V/M4/Cruwear.

Scale material, doesn't really bother me, G10 is fine if that helps with the selling price. Though micarta would definitely be very cool.

Thank you for asking Sal.
Elmax sounds awesome! Just run it at a higher hardness. That stuff is so tough but I feel it often gets heat treated too low (only had it from other companies).

Elmax, XHP, or M4 would be great options. Probably would favor Elmax and XHP just for the maintenance aspect. With the contoured G10 this knife screams user. I'd like to use this knife as a camp folder (food prep, fishing tasks, feather sticks, whittling). It's sturdy enough for harder use so a tougher steel option than S30v sounds great. There seems to be a lot of requests for 3v. That steel is incredible but in the Shaman, wouldn't the extreme toughness of 3v be wasted? Elmax makes the most sense. One of the toughest stainless steels (plenty for this model) but better edge holding (if run at least 60 HRC), and better corrosion resistance than 3v. This is so exciting! Let's get these sprint run going!!!

The non-peel-ply/non-g10-laminate carbon fiber that came on the Positron, and S90V, or M390. Let's reduce the weight as much as humanly possible.

I wonder if people realize that the Standard Production model Shaman folders currently go for $181.97 to $194.97 in street pricing (MAP) with S30V/G-10. Sprints with premium steels and handle materials will cost more.

DLT M390 red g10 PM2 says the opposite.:p

Seriously, if a sprint run of Shaman in m390 steel and cf scales sells at no more than $240, it would be reasonable.

Yes those fancy CF supersteel sprints will be pricy...

I tend to side with sharp_edge sharp_edge - my CS exclusive S90V Native 5 LW was only $95, which is actually the same as the new MAP price for the standard black/S35VN N5LW. The PM2 sprints aren't always that much more expensive at the dealers. CF does drive up the price more than blade material, it seems. But for flat/polished CF that's usually something like a $50 price increase.

I’d rather have a different color G10 with the price increase going towards the steel than a cf handle. Another reason I’m advocating cruwear is because it seems to only be slightly more expensive than S30V. I think the Para 3 cruwear sprint was only $5-$10 more than the production model. Very reasonable IMO.

I'm with you on sticking with G10 to keep costs reasonable, and Cruwear, and not just for the lower cost differential compared to some top-performing steels, but because Cruwear is a fantastic choice for a steel. I much prefer it to S30/35v, and even Elmax/XHP class (either of which I prefer over S30v, which is itself a good enough steel for most purposes).

This. Super overpriced for what you get. Sprints of PM2's and Manix 2's go for less than the Shaman, I completely understand Sal and Spyderco's need to increase prices each year, and obviously I have zero clue how much it costs to make a Shaman, but I feel it was priced correctly when it first came out, a little bit beefier and contouring will cost extra, but not that much more. Hitting ZT prices with G10 handles, and S30V, yuck.

I'll be conservative. How about M390 and 3D machined carbon fiber?
YES. M390 and the solid foundation this knife already has would be a killer combo. I honestly consider my Shaman my "bugout" blade. I have full confidence in it's construction...M390 would perfect it
