Beautiful Hawk M. Gev, the handle looks like it's still growing/maturing, a fine specimen.

Regards, Will

Folks, I purposely reduced the picture to hide the tang stamp and shield. The 'Germany' (Chinese)knife is the lower red copperhead. I bought it to do a side x side comparison. A little pattern difference but it's turned out to be a darn good knife. I sometimes EDC it when I want to be fancy.
Again my question, if it's not a 'Solingen' is it still a Boker? I have an opinion and I do not consider it a Boker. And that wood handled scout knife above is fantastic!

Thank you for the compliment, Will!! Its may be weird, but I have had this in my pocket for a week now and its a really useful blade shape. Its my first hawk and I can see now why folks like them.

Yes, the Hawk can be a great slicer in food prep situations. When I worked as a gardener, we used them also for cutting open seed, compost sacks etc. They don't look exactly bad either!

Thanks, Will

That's what I have been using it for...lots of big salads. Its really makes making a salad fun:D No garden action just yet!

Those curvy blades grow on ya' Gevo.:) Nice. I can't seem to pry one from a guy I know that has 3 Bokers(farmers jacks).

Here's a nice one I have a picture of. H Boker Improved 4 1/8" slim jack

Carried this red bone pen knife every day for at least a decade excepting the few days I'd temporarily lose it. A favorite of mine.

Love them both and would like to get more but Boker has gotten so cagey about where they are made these days it's hard to determine the quality till it's in hand.

Nice knives, I like the well used pen knife, as for Boker being cagey, I would say it's not Boker that is being cagey, rather vendors, and sellers on online auction sites selling Bokers Asian economy line of traditionals as German made, don't know if it's done intentionally or just lack of knowledge and going off what they know of the Boker name and history. Boker is straight up about country of origin on their knives, but have seen plenty of vendors ( not BF vendors ) misrepresenting the brand. Play it safe and purchase the Tree Brand Classic, check your shield if it says Solingen you are good, if it says Germany send it back if its not what you were looking for.

You're the sly one Pete ;-) "well used pen" ha! The main blade was pretty badly dinged when I got it off the Bay so I reprofiled it but I have this perverse penchant for rounding the points ;-(
Some vendors are nothing short of fraudulent. Even Tree Brand Classic etches appear to be no guarantee. I was considering some nice looking trappers for $25, seemed to good to be true. It was.

No question they are fraternal twins Jonathan. "What year range?" YOU are asking me!? The seller thought it was late sixties. There is apparently an arcane discipline which can determine the age and origin of Bokers by the tree shape but I'm not an initiate. Sorry.

I don't think it's the congress, because of the Tree Brand classic box, can't really see any of the details in any of the pics my guess would be the bright red scale in second photo

Pete

Picked the congress because I had just looked at a bunch of Boker Congresses on a list and out of 6 knives, only one was made in Germany.
