could you tell me what model that is i cant quite work it out

Hard to believe, since I really do like wood handles, but I have sold or traded all my wood handle knives except two.

An inexpensive wood carving wharncliffe in rosewood

And a John Lloyd shadow, also in rosewood

Edited to say, now they are sold also.

Doug, you should know, but the Lloyd sure looks more like ironwood than any rosewood I've ever seen.

It is more highly figured than most rosewood I have seen, Jeff, but the coloring is similar to the rosewood back and sides on my son's Larrivée guitar. Must have been a particularly burlish piece of rosewood!

Everybody, its been great looking through this thread again and again, my apologies for being very quiet on the forums-shifting house, and I need to find time in taking a LOT of up-to-date photos, but if I can join in and post some previously shown photos of wood handles, i must update these as some knives are well used now and show the nice patina that just goes with our traditional tastes ....

Hrum hoom! Root and twig! Is anyone else feeling thirsty for an Ent draught yet? :D...

Wood is probably my very favorite handle material. I really like seeing "the old and new of things." The older knives show how well wood takes a patina, and the new knives show what the other patinas have been hiding underneath.:D

Pictured below is a Cattaraugus electrician's knife in cocobolo.

You can see the wood has developed a dark patina. From that alone, you can tell this knife is has seen some years. If I wanted to, I could apply some light sanding to the handles and reveal the more vibrant amber and brown colors underneath, but I really like the aged look.

Hoom Hoom!

Thanks for looking

PS- I am really curious to see how Ancient Kauri wood is going to age!
