Fes, that's a beauty, I live that burly maple! NYmosin, nice Bucks in that group!

Here are a few more:

The first one's a really cool Schrade Walden fish knife, even has a cap lifter on the back!

It's not the most beautiful of woods, but nothing beats stacked birch bark for comfort and feel. When brand new it is luxurious and velvety. I applied a few coats of Tru-Oil to protect the wood from the elements, and now it almost feels like leather.

Christian, I've never seen a stacked birch bark handle before, VERY cool!!

Peter, is that handle birch (wood) as well?

Eric,

This is my first and only birch bark handled knife. Birch bark is a traditional handle material for Nordic knives.

Christian, I have one from Russia with birch bark handle and brown micarta butt and guard.
Blade steel is Russian version of BG-42, an excellent, tough edge-holding stainless.
It's super light weight and VERY comfortable in the hand.

After a lot of time trying to track down one of these elusive little buggers, the mailman finally arrived today... It was well worth the wait!

Conductor is one of the great GEC patterns! Time for a re-run and of the White Owl too, getting tired of these awkward house-bricks GEC has been offering lately :D

It is very generic for me to say this, but I mean it with the utmost sincerity; thank you to all who have posted up your beauties, I duly appreciate it! I really need to teach myself some self control, so I must refrain from pursuing some of that I have seen here.

I think you boys have inspired me to start collecting some wood-scaled slipjoints. It may be my youth, but for some reason, I never really appreciated wood as a handle material for what it really is. I think I may have one of my SAK's that my grandfather gave me recently in Ebony; I know it is not truly 'traditional', but it has history nonetheless!

I'll get some pics of the Opinel he gave me that I fixed up; the pics in the thread I made a while back do not give justice!

Thanks for the compliments gents!

Will: Couldn't agree with you more sir, I'm definitely a lot more partial to the 33 and 68. I would have much rather seen a White Owl in linen micarta than the Lumberjack, but maybe that would be breaking with tradition??? ;)

Nick,

Nice pictures, enjoy the knife...now if they had just made it without the bail!
