Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

I file my studio images by quarters on my website and on my storage/posting site (Fototime). We begin anew...

Mike Craddock is a regular to Bladeforums, and is renowned for his sturdy quality and great materials. Here's testimony to why he's grown in stature:

Last June, Kurt Swearingen brought me his (5) ABS Journeyman Smith knives.

He passed with ease.

Here's a delightful classic 'Skagel-styled' folder he's produced to show his diversity:

By the way...

I have a SharpByCoop Photography Facebook page. I post there as well.

I prefer to have you LIKE that page to get updates, rather than ask to 'friend' me on my personal page. (Which I don't post often or post my knife photos.) You will be more rewarded on the SBC page. Thanks!

Jim

EDIT: After twelve hours it's come back up. I'm always gravely concerned because THIS is important to me. :) Old news below...

My photo host: www.fototime.com isn't showing any of my photos here in CT.

I've emailed them, and they are running fine. (Texas host servers.)

There must be a server in between them and here in the Northeast having a storm. Some of you may see them just fine? I hope so. For me, it's alarming. I hope it's temporary.

F.Y.I.

Still coming in loud & clear in Lowsyana Coop. It got up to 75 degrees here today.:p Stay warm buddy.

All set. Here you go...

ALL of these have been posted in individual threads, which you may or may not have seen.

However, you can't miss them here! :p

Mike Craddock with a single sideview of a notable fighter. Doesn't need more to convince me!

..and his hunter/utility just screams 'Look at ME!'

Kevin Casey wows us with his own brand of yowzer. That, and a little help from one of his friends..

David Mirable: I only regret this knife was entered in the BB 2014 thread before I had a chance to show it professionally. It stands tall!

Gus Cecchini is on a flight back to Brazil from his successful weekend in Las Vegas at the Tactical Invitational. Here are two he had to offer:

Here are some knives (and makers!) which are a rare treat.

Dellana has a style and following which is worldwide. Here's one of the reasons for her success:
orig.jpg

Keith Ouye is NOT a stranger to these lands from my submissions. Look at how he constructed this 'superconductor' material folder.
orig.jpg

orig.jpg

Rusty Waide is a Veterinarian from MO. He sure can make animals AND men happy! Look at these.

Lastly, Steven Ramos hails from Utah, and sent me this smart fixed blade. I told him the styling was VERY similar to Jay Fisher, and he responded as such: "Jay Fisher is my favorite knife maker and has been my biggest influence in my designs and style, so I take it as a compliment when people tell me my knives look like Jay Fisher's.."

I've updated my Facebook page, and my website.

Comments welcome.

* Wow. Study the curves and the colors and the construction. ;)

Now, let's shift gears BIG TIME to the latest offerings which were part of the 'Tactical Invitational Show' in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago.

What's the difference? Quite possibly only the amount of metal.

Some wonderful pieces ahead:

Russ Andrews II: This one caused a raised eyebrow or two in its own thread. It was commented as looking like a painting.

Guilty as charged! ;)

I love showing Ron Best's work. It speaks for itself.

Sean O'Hare is well on his way to becoming a force in folders. Exhibit A:

There is the highest of regard for John Young's work. I'd never seen him use or sculpt picasso marble, and WOW was I impressed!

Thanks.

Some of these have been seen, some will BLOW YOUR MIND.

Well, I wish so anyway. <shrug>

Chad Harding created a massive forged subhilt.
orig.jpg

Spine thickness of a paperback book ....
orig.jpg

Chris Conaway (Sheepdog Forge) with a set of similar folders. Coming soon to a magazine in your area.
orig.jpg

Likewise for the talents of Jim Minnick on his utility folder. Nicely made from a veteran maker.
orig.jpg

I had a studio visit working with Matt Parkinson from 'Dragonsbreath Forge' from Wolcott CT. Shooting swords is a project in itself, and having a capable helper made it that much easier.
(Making swords has got to be incredibly challenging. I struggle with only shooting them.)

Stamped forge maker's mark

Continued....

Matt worked with another artist to elevate this wonderful piece.

Lastly, look at how much skill and artistry he's embedded in these small integral fixed blades.
orig.jpg

Ron Best works tirelessly in his shop in Stokes NC. He finishes them, sends them to me, I capture them, he then sells them.

All in rapid succession. There is a pattern in this successful madness...:D
orig.jpg

So, I shot this one in a deep brownish background. However the knife itself is perfectly black and white with carbon fiber inlays. We both agreed: Let's show it in B&W.
orig.jpg

Successful traditional folder maker Tom Ploppert sent me a fixed blade in Paul Long's saddle. Just, WOW!

Precision folder maker + killer stag + Devin Thomas steel + Pappy Long = Jawdropping fighter!

Much awesomeness here. Killer feather damascus, impressive swords and some terrific little integrals. Sweet.

Very cool making a black and white photo. I'd be curious to see it in color to see if the silver metal looks more shiny or just the same.

^^^ TTT. I couldn't resist.

I'm a sucker for a good solid CLACK. How about you?
