Sharpest knife?

Duh, this is a no brainer.
Dozier for fixed blades, and a Buck 112 with BG-42 blade.
I was absolutely amazed at the Buck.

Marbles, Spyderco and Buck are the sharpest out of the box in my experience.

The worst edges are the ones you find on almost any production slipjoint.

hey bruz what knife is that a pic of? doesn't look like the strider knives ive seen.

Yep mlawson, it's a Strider SnG drop point we got for the Strider Passaround. Perdy cool knife.

Gotta also add Microtech LCC as the sharpest I have seen.

I agree with Coonskinner about the Marbles. Very sharp right out of the box.

Never had a Spyderco that wasn't hair popping sharp out of the box, but the last two Emerson Commanders that I have bought have been SCARY sharp.

just hit stupid sharp tonight... ats-55 ss dragonfly... sharpened on the flats(thats right, no actual edge bevel, it's all blade grind right into the cutting edge). have to take the wire off still, but it's already waiting to cut me.

For folders I'd say on the average Spyderco, Cold Steel and Kershaw have the sharpest edges straight out of the box. In fact, I think the sharpest factory edge I have ever felt on a knife was on my wife's Kershaw Boa. The thing was absollutely SCREAMING sharp.

For factory fixed blades, I'd have to say it's a tie between the Kershaw Echo and Cold Steel SRK. They were both VERY sharp out of the box. For custom fixed blades, it's a tie between my Allen Blade MEUK and my Greco Companion. They were both like lightsabers when I got them.

I'm not sure Dozier actually has a "factory", but go into a typical knife show, and Dozier's blades are almost always the sharpest of the fixed blades with substantive blades. I've occasionally run across someone who has a very thin-bladed knife that feels sharper than a Dozier, but for a working blade, he's tops on my list.

As far as factory folders, my Spydercard ranks among the sharpest from the factory I've seen. Of my 3 calypso Jrs, all were amazingly sharp, but one in particular may be a cut above any other factory folder I've handled.

Sharpest out of the box?

IMO, Spyderco...hands down. Especially their VG-10 models, as previously posted by glockman. :D

yeah the buck is realy spot on with the sharpening , , they have a special macine for shrapening the blades,,
computer controlled thing,,
it can put a smaller angle on the blade than the cbn worm thingigs that the kitchen knife makers use,, and its more reliable than hand sharpening,,

id say the sharpest would be some of the japanese kitchen knives, i hve some that were sharpened on a electric water stone,, and then polished , realy sharpe,, you can shave the hair without touching the skin,, :)

I'll take William Henry's in ZDP 189 for 500 Alex. Maybe not many of you have experienced them but they are REDICULOUS and i must say edge out my spydies for nastiest edge that came with. My Doziers were pretty nasty too. Now if I cant count the WH's then I'll go with spyderco for pure factory.

Generally, my Spyderco's have been the sharpest, out of the box. I got a Buck 110 from wally-world that has a toothy edge that was incredibly sharp.

Out of the box sharp:
Marble's for fixed,William Henry's for folders.
Gotta' Bark Mammoth Ivory T-10 Lancet,2 5/8" blade in 154-CM at 59-61 Rc., INSANE sharp!!
No experience with ZDP 189 or Spydies, though.

Doug :)

My Spydercos are consistently very sharp.....the VG10 does appear to come slightly sharper, on average, than S30V, although that kind of sounds insane. The d`allara drop point, out of the box, was the sharpest knife I've ever had....it was ridiculous.

All of my Spyderco knives have been extremely sharp right out-of-the-box.
But my Custom Shop Buck 110 and my cabelas Alaskan Guide 110 were awesome as well.

Folders - Spyderco, never had one that wasn't shaving sharp straight out of the box.
Fixed - Bark River, convex ground yet razor sharp. Have a Lil Nessy, made from 52100, not their usual A2 and its probably the sharpest knife I own.

all of my spydies have come really sharp but my sharpest has to have been my fallkniven u2
