Sharpest new knife you ever purchased?

The Spyderco's I once had; ti Military, PPT, Gayle Bradley. I also had a couple Falkniven PXLfolders and both were in the same class as the Spyder's.

My Benchmade Gold Class 7505-132. Easily.

But I have to add that the sharpness of a knife out of the box is not much of a worry to me. If duller than my personal standards - I just sharpen them. ;)

My first edition Beretta Avenger, a collaboration between the Master of Carbon Fiber Edged Weapons, Warren Thomas and Beretta. This was my sharpest ever knife, one long single bevel grind in cf and VG10.

Btw the pics aren't mine but my knife is identical, this thing is truly hair whittling, scary sharp and came that way outta the tin. :)

It's made of CF with a laminated CF VG-10 blade, it's super light, super fast and wicked sharp.

Man. Gorgeous knife! :)

Have to say it's a toss up between a Puma Skinner and a Helle Gaupe. Put either one edge up on the table and let paper fall across them. Slice right through out of the box.

Benchmade Barrage in m390. A couple days after I got it I loaned it to a knife competent friend on a camping trip who was doing food prep. It got slick cutting meat and slipped from his right hand and I watched it come to rest on a finger on his left hand. It couldn't have fallen more than an inch with nothing but the force of gravity behind it, and it put a gash in his finger that probably needed stitches, though we didn't go that route.

But I've had other BMs not quite as sharp. Spyderco has been pretty consistently sharp, but honestly, the most consistent sharp blades out of the box I have are Moras. Never had one that wasn't super sharp, and I've had more than 20 between my own and what I get for gifts...and of course, if it's a gift I have to try it first to make sure it is sharp :)

Pitbull necker made by Richard J.

Hair doesn't have time to be shaved with that blade, it just jumps out of the way.

Of my 70 production knives, the Hogue EX-04 is the ONLY knife that could whittle hair out of the box.

My BM 810 and Spyderco Military Cruwear would be my sharpest out the box.
I just lightly touched my index finger between knuckles and it sliced me pretty good.

It is nice when knives come this sharp cause I have yet to sharpen either of these with a stone.
Just paper and compound keep them sharp.

Zubeng tamahagne small fixed, Takeda Bichu-no-kami small friction folder. Both have hard high-carbon thin convex edges sharpened on waterstones. I rarely let anyone handle either of them. Even 'knife guys' get strict warnings. I've brought other blades up to fun levels of sharpness, but these amazed me right upon arrival.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley... one of the only knives that I got new that I didn't feel the need to touch up!

The spyderco szabo black blade came darn sharp. The fit and finish is the best I've seen yet on a spyderco.
