Here is a page with some nickel-silver and gold sheaths that
Julie Warenski-Edrickson engraved and inlaid.

I created this page for her book:
"The Art Knives & Knife Engraving of Julie Warenski-Erickson" (2012).

All the best,

Mason.......you make some of the finest blade/sheath combos out there my friend!! Well done.....
Joe- I have never seen a collection of such kickazz stuff like yours before! If there was an award for the best collection of cool stuff... You would be the winner by a long shot bro!!

Russ Andrews PC Hawthorne in a Paul Long Sheath inlayed with a piece of cape buffalo leather taken and provided by Joseph Paranee

Bailey Bradshaw B14 in a Paul Long sheath crafted of cowhide with a attached stone pocket, so elegant in it's simplicity

I will never be able to own this knife, the price is simply too dear, but this Warenski in Sugilite inlay is owned by Phil Lobred and I have spent many happy hours handling it and the sheath. I have never seen better metal sheath work anywhere.

Dean El Diablo with sheath by Paul Long....it speaks for itself.

Damned fine camp set from Burt Foster with extremely well crafted piggyback sheath.

J.D. Smith Tanto with African Blackwood saya by Christian Griesi.

I would like to take a moment to say something that has been on my mind for a Long time. There are many thoughts about sheaths as a component of a knife. I have Long held that a fixed blade without a sheath is at best a desktop letter opener. In the Long view of things, a Paul Long sheath with a knife should bring a premium. Kevin Jones introduced me to the work of Paul Long. Paul is the best leather sheathmaking practitioner that has Long walked the face of the earth thus far, imo.

May he live Long and prosper!

Magnus Axelson's work is to the far end of the high quality spectrum...

I've recently had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of J.D. Smith, whose sheath work is a whole level of awesomeness unto itself!

my work tends toward the other end of the spectrum, but it's serviceable enough :)

There is something about a throat and tip sheath…

Way beyond my skill level though.
When it comes to leather, I've been making my own sheaths.

Work on the modular sheath system continues.
The working prototype

Crossdraw and separate shoulder (think GI .45 Tanker) rig.

As long as the Sam Brown stud is in the same spot, it'll work with any sheath.

Really enjoying this thread and the awesome work featured by the masters.
Keep'em coming :D

A good sheath is of paramount importance. Not having one greatly reduces a knife's utility. Not only does a sheath allow you to carry a knife when not in use, it also protects the knife.
I think custom knife makers should provide sheaths if they can make good ones. If the sheath isn't of the same quality as the knife I'd probably just send it to someone like Paul Long to get an aftermarket one made. I also want a sheath to share the same aesthetic as its knife. Doesn't look as well thought out otherwise.

I totally agree.
I once received a sheath with a new MS Hunter that looked OK, however the leather inside must have been about 80 grit. Scratched both the guard and blade.
It was a great Hunter but this maker was doing his customers a dis-service by supplying sheaths.

John Cohea, thanks. I always love seeing your work. Each one is perfect and a true one of a kind!

Thanks my friend

I've been at this a long time and I cheat, a lot of these boys are my friends :)

Such great work here

Great thread Kevin

This is my only Cohea, but I love it. It's understated compared to some of his more elaborate work, but compliments the knife perfectly. As it should.
