Sheath Thread; please share some of your favorites

Man, what a leather bonanza going on in this thread! plus some metal bling as well, very nice, while mine do not come up to those, this one was one I always liked how it turned out, the forming and shaping along the spine, leather didn't like to move like that but it ended up working out well and held the knife very secure, wish I had presence of mind to have kept it :(

Knife is a Yukon Jack by Case, one of the annual offerings designed by the famous Mr Tony Bose, it ended up being just a hair too big for me to EDC so I ended up selling her off...

Couple sheaths I made for me and friends as gifts.. Knifes made by Wade Hougham and wheel and feather by John Cohea KT

No greater a Christmas gift the Sheath Forum could have gotten right now. :D :D :D

There are sheath makers that haven't ever been featured here before, hopefully this opens up a whole new market for them. Also, it looks like it will help some of us kick their craft up a notch!

Some I am proud of:
Knife by Chad Cunningham

Knight bowie

LR Butch Harner, in a collaboration with Sandy Morissey and Dave Cole, I could not be more proud to have works among these two. :)

PML Knives, I like this guys style

Vines, I've done one other like this, its my all time favorite

This is truly a shame that this thread was moved from where it was started in the custom Forum

It clearly was about how custom sheaths relate to custom knives and plenty of Custom knife content

This was winding up to be a great holiday thread and now it will languish here with not much traffic

I respectfully ask that it be put back where the OP who is a huge contributing member had placed it

Agreed. At the very least the person who moved this thread could've left a link in the Custom forum so that others would learn of it.

I'm in total agreement with Joe and Christian about moving the thread back.

Either way here's some more leather.

When this thread was moved here I was delighted! It shows the best of the best to those up and coming sheath makers that frequent here trying to learn and see whats possible. Unfortunately these posts show that the Sheath forum is not worthy of such a thread, that the people who frequent here are not worthy of seeing this work. Languishing, that term speaks volumes.

Very disappointing, when I spent the months working toward a dedicated sheath forum I was hoping that it would become one of the best sources on the net for sheath makers of every level. Evidently its not viewed as that by some.

While its here, can we try to stay positive? I need to talk to the powers that be, but ruining this thread because its here is not a good way to get things to happen, its a good way to get a fantastic thread closed for no good reason.

I am truly sorry this is such a bad place to be. :(

I'm so out of my league even posting these... Some of my work.

Don't take it so personally. This place is great, I check it out all the time because I have a fondness for quality leatherwork.

However, this thread rightfully belongs in one of two places -- here and the Custom forum. The OP started it in in the Custom forum and he was not out-of-place for doing so. It should've been left alone as it was in no way off topic. Joe was simply expressing his frustration at the unnecessary move.

Very true, and agreed, Thank you for visiting here and no personal feelings hurt here, just damage control. :) This kind of thread is exactly what the sheath forum needs, but some of the top makers dont even know its here, now more do. :) Its a double edge I know, the bad responses make both sides appear in a bad light and that is not good. But, sometimes bad press is good advertising. :p

Its the internet, I stopped taking things said on the internet personally long ago, its not worth the blood pressure rise. :)

Leatherman

You took the contents of what I had to say totally off base

If the op who is a grown man who pays for a membership puts a thread he has started that is about custom knives and how custom sheath relate to them in the forum that he chooses what right does someone have to move it

The traffic count on this forum is far less than where this was started and if the op would have wanted it here he would have put it here

I have done more than most to speak about how important sheaths are and have contributed for 30 years to the makers of such

To insinuate I have any disdain for any sub forum is ludicrous and way off base

If sheath makers want to reach out to custom knife owners more they should learn to work the room and that means coming to where the patrons buy their wares

The sheath forum is great but this thread was posted by a paying member in the sub forum of his choosing and it is definitely related to custom knives and shows many pics of both knives and sheaths

Plus what's up with no link

Hey guys, quite a bit of band width being used upon off topic banter about worthiness......or not etc. BS!!!! Of course, the Sheath forum is worthy and that's why I linked the the Original thread over here in the first place. Absolutely no reason for anyone in the Sheath Forum to get butt hurt over this unless they want to.

The original thrust of the thread was more directed to the Custom and Handmade forum, but it is a blended thread and would be comfortable in either location. It is really valuable to the newer and upcoming sheath makers to get to see some of the fine work displayed in the thread. It will stimulate their imaginations and hopefully create a burning desire to "get that good".

Therefore, regardless of the location of the thread it has tremendous value and should be shared.

But now, step back and cool off. Enough negative comments about location and more positive comments about content, PLEASE and thank you.:D
