ShepardCC: Custom Knife Scales & Backspacers **Books OPEN**

I'm thinking red cf for the lava instead. ;)

Chokwe I'm thinking bolster scale. With white.

I didn't want to hijack the pm 2 thread but I was thinking the new salt rescue with the glass breaker and whistle will be perfect. I have the all blacked out one. I should put that in my car. Lol

If you're still having trouble getting the blue shred CF, go for the red instead. I'm completely flexible...Chokwe would be very different with a bolster scale.

Thats nice!

I just don't like brass/copper for handles...makes your hands smell funny. Plus it discolors after a few uses...but then again some people really like that...I mean look at the statue of liberty. That used to be shinny bright copper. What a sight that must of been when it was first put up.

I'm the opposite...I love to watch a patina develop, though I do think the Chokwe would be better from a practicality standpoint with a non-metal scale...especially given how frequently I carry mine. Start thinking of ideas, because I've decided it's the knife that's going your way next. Some things are awesome in copper...here's the pen I carry every day. Hinderer Investigator in solid copper, with a green Fisher Space Pen cartridge (Seemed appropriate since copper oxidises green...and it's my favourite colour).

I think I know what I want to do with your chokwe. One question, do you want those big holes in the custom scale like the factory one?

I like that pen!
Doesn't it make your hands smell after using it?

I do like the holes in the factory scale and would like to retain them...they provide a little extra traction when holding the knife, and a little more yet I'd expect if the new scale was smoother. That and the design symmetry is better with them, as well as the designed in potential to remove the clip and attach the knife to a pole or "Reach extender" of some sort for non-typical tasks using the holes. I haven't yet had to do such, but I could see it being useful in certain circumstances.

And the pen is pretty awesome...it came with o-rings to go into the machined grooves, but I like it better without them, and no my hands don't smell (At least to my knowledge) after using the pen...I just gave the pen a smell just to be sure (Weird I know but I was curious) and it doesn't smell like anything to me. I've also lent it to friends and family for 10-15 minutes of solid writing and none of them ever expressed any odour from using it.

Okay cool. It'll be interesting to make those big holes in a scale. Never done that before.
I totally get what you mean about using the holes to attach to a pole to make a spear to.fish with or defend yourself with some reach against a bear or something if you got trapped in the woods or something.

I'm a big smell kinda guy so who knows. Maybe it's just me. Or maybe it's just the type of brass/copper I've had in my hands. I always smell my food before eating and I like smelling the things I drink too. I don't think it's weird because that's one of the ways we as humans survived in ancient times to make sure the food and water wasn't spoiled or poisoned or whatever. But some people think I'm weird for doing it...my parents included. Lol. Which is funny because they are big wine drinkers and smelling the wine and the cork is big when drinking wine. Hypocrites ;)

That's funny Eric. I'm with you 100% on metals leaving a weird smell on the hands. Can't stand it myself.
I also usually smell my food and drink before eating. My wife teases me about it but it seems crazy not to. Would you rather figure out your food is spoiled by smelling or tasting it...

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only that does that Steve. Lol. I think that smelling it helps to enhance what you eat and drink. I mean I don't care how good something tastes...if it smells bad I'm not going to it eat or drink it.

Sent you a pm or email(cant remember) a few days back and havent heard from ya. Im interested in having some g10 geared backspacers made for my large sebenza and my umnumzaan, is this something you can do? Thanks!!

But stop taking orders so you can finish my other stuff ;)
