looking for some advice. I sold a neon to a member over a month ago. They just contacted me and sent a PayPal claim asking for money because they cannot remove the pivot. They are claiming that my claim in the selling of the knife that it was like brand new is false. I bought this knife brand new, carried it a few times and never took it apart or tried. I understand the smooth backside of shirogorov pivots are problems. Does anyone have any input? I am afraid that PayPal will just side with the buyer, and they will get to keep the knife and get their money back if I escalate. Am I being out of line by being upset?

Do you still have pics of the knife before you sold it?
Request pics of the knife now to see if it is damaged due to trying to take it apart.
did you try to resolve the pivot issue before the buyer filed the claim.
Do you have proof of the transaction date? Thirty days later seems like an excessive time to file a refund.
PayPal may side with you(the seller) if you have the correct info.

On a side note, on some of the Shirogorov's you've got to heat up the tread sealant in order to get it to come apart. Soaking it in hot water is recommended.

Yeh sounds like bs from the buyer. They have probably screwed everything up and want you to pay for it.

On my shiros the female side of the pivot spins free unless you have some rubber or the like gripping the other side. Also heating them up helps if there is thread locker in there. All my shiros have been bought new, some seem to have thread locker some don't.

I feel for you mate, bloody paypal as well will probably side with them... they always seem to make idiotic decisions. We really need a big competitor to emerge to challenge them.

I escalated. This makes me sick. I have an email from him when he received that it looks great. I will provide to PayPal.

As soon as this guy attempted to take the knife apart......it is now his.
Not trying to start a war, BUT if he took tools to the knife he should man up, shut up and keep that knife........PERIOD.
Sorry you got stuck with this garbage and hope it works out for you @SliceofKnife1.

So I provided email after he received saying it looked great. I provided before and pics, after attempted removed, an email where he states he was attempting to remove for cleaning etc. in my mind this is a no brainer buy payapal is so focused on the buyer.

Where he is coming back, is I proved him a link of where this is a common thing and the thread gave him suggestions of how to do. So he blames me for scratches cause I provided him suggestions. Also in that thread it shows an example knife wrappped in painters tape to protect from scratches. I also proved that.

Casinostocks Casinostocks This is the thread. Who is the mod?. Not sure if this is smart since I escalated with PayPal?

Assuming that you are on a computer and not on your phone:

If you go to the main page of this Site, just underneath your avatar and name, etc on the top right corner, you will see "Staff Online" and you can flag their attention by starting a conversation (AKA PM) with them. The decision as to whether you want to do it or not, is entirely up to you.

He sounds like he's taking zero responsibility for his own actions. Truly sad indeed and yes, I'd like to know who this is as well for future reference.
Oh, I see now. Nevermind.

I deleted my post cause I made an assumption I can't prove as of right now but he at least tried to sell this knife last Sunday knowing what he has file a claim against me for

OP:

I had a suspicion that was the buyer but since I did not have any skin in the game, other than a samaritan duty as the Community member, I did not wish to out this guy. However, you ought to know that his history shows that he purchased a Hati from another member on here, someone whom I have seen buy-sell a lot of higher $ folders.

To me, it seems that this buyer of yours bought the Hati, marred the screw on the NeON by messing with it and since could not bring himself to sell it for a slight loss, he decided to take the cowardly route of a PP claim. There is a very high probability that the initial ruling will against you so you MUST persevere and keep escalating this issue while sending PayPal all the evidences which you have gathered.

Do not be afraid to have this thread moved over to the GB&U section where your so-called buyer's dastardly act can be addressed in the manner in which he deserves, if he does not come to explain himself. There are always two sides and he must be afforded his side in lieu of the presented discoveries!

Edit: moved already!

So who's gonna call this guy over? There are more senior members than me on here who know the ways and the means better than me.

He won't be back. My experience on other forums and as a Mod.
I could be wrong.
