As soon as this guy attempted to take the knife apart......it is now his.
Not trying to start a war, BUT if he took tools to the knife he should man up, shut up and keep that knife........PERIOD.
Sorry you got stuck with this garbage and hope it works out for you @SliceofKnife1.

Spot on Joe, you break it & you've bought it! I noticed none of that information was given when he went to sell it. Imho these actions should qualify as Shark Bait.:(

"Was like new until I snail trailed presentation side..."
Looks less like a snail trail and more like a slipped screwdriver (why a screwdriver?) to me.

Guys , has anyone been successful with PayPal? They seem sooo focused on the buyer that afraid that they will simply take his word for it without understanding the whole story

I don't see how PP would take the side of the buyer after he posted this knife for sale with action still in place (!?!). Especially after showing PP comparison shots of when seller sold the knife, buyer responded with "looks great!" files 30 days later (past the desired filing time I might add), then at the same time attempts to sell said knife on the same forums with photos clearly showing tool damage while claiming "snail trail". Good grief, talk about shooting yourself in the foot! Seller should have no issues if buyer tries to continue this course of action. The fact that he then withdrew the knife and hasn't come to respond on this thread? He'd best slink off under a rock and withdraw his PP action.

If seller hasn't taken screen captures of the buyer's sell thread, I'd do that ASAP.

looking for some advice. I sold a neon to a member over a month ago. They just contacted me and sent a PayPal claim asking for money because they cannot remove the pivot. They are claiming that my claim in the selling of the knife that it was like brand new is false. I bought this knife brand new, carried it a few times and never took it apart or tried. I understand the smooth backside of shirogorov pivots are problems. Does anyone have any input? I am afraid that PayPal will just side with the buyer, and they will get to keep the knife and get their money back if I escalate. Am I being out of line by being upset?

Anyone that would treat this like some kind of “game” is obviously not an adult, responsible, or a productive member of society at all (as I feel that is what this is, quoting the OP and not responding is a child’s game). I think we’ve found yet another piece of trash the world unfortunately choked on and spit out. I have a feeling this person would not be so quick to toy with peoples money if they did not have the internet to hide behind. Coward at best. Words inappropriate for this forum at worst. I also believe people like this are lazy, and do not hold down jobs or pay taxes. Anyone with half an ounce of morality knows how hard earning an honest living is, and would not take another persons money fraudulently. Yes, a lot of accusations above. I’d bet my hard earned paycheck they are all true.

I am the buyer. This is my first time having an issue with an item purchased through BF and hope I'm posting this reply in the correct place. It was my intro into the Shiro brand and was initially pleased how it lived up to the hype. I then purchased A Hati from a different BF member to add to the collection. I wanted to put lanyards on both Shiro's so I started with the Hati first. Everything went perfect from pivot removal to reassemble. But when attempting it on the Neon, the pivot would just spin and not loosen. In liking the Hati size better I decided to sell the Neon and look for another Hati. During this time I was combing BF for ideas on how to solve the pivot issue so my buyer would not have the same issue. Many seemed too severe and I was not willing to take that chance. A video suggested using the heat from a hairdryer which seemed the least invasive. It didn't work. As emails started coming in from members considering to purchase I disclosed to them the seized pivot. Not one person was willing to purchase knowing this. I contacted the seller and removed the sale to not waste other members time. He was kind enough to provide a link of a possible solution but it doesn't work on the backspacer version. At this point I felt contacting PP was the best solution. Now yes, I did mark the scale in an attempt to free the pivot (easy to do in this situation). I was willing to sell it for less because of that. But not resell it with a seized pivot. Let's be open here, a knifenut doesn't buy something at this level as a "need" purchase. It is purely a "want" purchase. And I would think most people would want it to fully function flawlessly. Also where catch, release, trade, etc is a real aspect of BF, items with issue/s can have a negative effect on the pre-owned market.

I think it's obvious this is the correct place to post. From what I saw of your listing, only one person contacted you regarding the purchase of this knife - you seem rather quick to panic.

Spinning pivots are common in knives in general, and known in Shiros. Pretty much every Russian knife I have needs some thread lock so the blade doesn't go off center after a dozen flips. What I'm not understanding is why you would need to take a knife apart for a lanyard (or are you buying them made already?) and then use a screwdriver. There's takedown videos available on youtube as well as a plethora of tips and tricks to overcome thread lock and free-spinning pivots. Going to PP however is something I'm not understanding in the least. You expect somebody to eat the cost of something that's common knowledge? There's reasons taking a knife apart voids warranties for many makers - and you're why.

Did you try posting threads on how to take care of this and maybe, I don't know - wait a couple of days and do some research? I could give you several suggestions here right now (like stay the hell away from screwdrivers), as could those even more knowledgeable than myself. This place is full of brilliant people and builders who could walk you through it if you'd just ask.

Coming here and fessing up is the first step in setting things right.

The knife community is awesome in general. I don't come here often, but do plan to sell off a lot of my knives in the coming weeks. Guys like you make me a bit hesitant - I'm sure I'll start with my IG group first. I'll leave it to S sliceofknife410 to sort this out - but I feel for him. You fed him to the Jackals for no particular reason other than a complete lack of patience.

Once you try to take it apart it is yours. Nothing else matters now. Drop the claim and save what little you can of your membership here.

You bought a used item on the Exchanges on here and not a new one directly from the manufacturer / distributor / dealer. I have no idea as to what the warranty terms of Shriogorov knives are vis a vis end user disassembly / assembly but the person who you bought the NeON from was not the maker of the knife which he sold to you in good faith. Irrespective of your positive experience with the Hati and your negative experience with dismantling the NeON, any defense against the warranty falls on the manufacture which means your PayPal claim is a clear abuse of their very relaxed and buyer biased claim policy.

I have also quoted your post for posterity and I am sure there ought to be enough evidence in here based on your own words for the OP to go through multiple layers of appeal should the initial decision fall incorrectly to your favor. There is a saying that not good deed goes unpunished and all the seller did in good faith was to try to help you out. I have some choice words for you which I will refrain from using in here but I suggest that you own tip to your own error and reconsider the baseless PP claim which you have initiated.

You seem like an overly entitled person, who is wanting to make another person suffer because of your inept behavior.

K KM013070 It has been half an hour since you made a post in this thread. Time to explain yourself.
I don't know why so many are focusing on the marks I caused on the scale. That is totally on me, but done trying to correct the actual problem. As far as "shady", that would be true if I said nothing and just flipped it so it became someone else's issue. Once I thought I would not be able to correct it I responded to all emails/texts that it had a seized pivot and after no one was willing to purchase as is, removed the item from sale and contacted PP. So I question, if this a known trait of Shiro, why was nobody willing to purchase it and look to fix it? Because nobody wants to buy a knife for this cost with an issue. Especially when this maker has no repair facility in the states. I have bought and sold many knives through BF all with positive outcomes. I'm thankful for BF's existence as most of what I've bought has been because of it. I've purchased items that I sent to the makers to bring back to new. My CR's are perfect examples. But a significant issue with an offshore maker's product is not a responsibility I should assume. I could easily believe the seller sold it because of this and hoped I'd never need to take it apart. I try to disagree because of the preowned items I've purchased in the past without any issues. If the seller was a business then I'm sure nobody would be commenting. But because he's an individual, there's a lot of time being spent. I truly feel sorry about how this is unfolding but in the end I bought a 575$ knife that can't be taken apart with reasonable methods. This is not an easy event for either me or the seller. If Shiro had a outlet for repairs in the states I would have done the same thing I did with my CR's. But they don't and Recon1 won't accept anything they didn't sell. So my only recourse is with the seller. I'm amazed some have said the things they have and that I should accept what they wouldn't accept themselves. I have never sold anything through BF that wasn't functionally perfect. This is also the first time I've bought something not functionally fine through BF.

Study the link which I just posted and if the buyer does not do the right thing by withdrawing his claim, contact BenR.T. for his input and keep persevering. There is enough material in here to show abuse of PP's return policy, but as you have guessed correctly, PayPal is initially heavily biased toward buyer's claims and I suspect that the initial decisions are all taken by programming bots based on some simple programming algorithm. You must be prepared to escalate, Escalate & ESCALATE!

I am the seller. I sold a used knife that was like new that i brought brand new and never touched the pivot. So now i have to pay you 575 for a scratched up knife with a pivot that has marks on it Eva use the buyer tries to take apart? The pivot “locked up” is not even an issue. There are numerous ways to fix this is this is a thing with Shiro a.
