Shortest blade you carry as a primary folder

Past couple of years my edc has been a Case peanut with Devon Thomas damascus blades. Of late I've switched out to a Sardinian Pattada friction folder that has done everything I could want out of a pocket knife in the real world. As a retired gentleman of leisure in American suburbia, two inches of blade is plenty for my uses.

Looks like the butt of that knife would make a great bowl packer!

I sharpened my Bradley alias 1 so I'm carrying it today. It measures 3.5" but really seems small and light compared to the benchmade 760 and spyderco Vallotton that I was carrying the past few weeks.

Back before I knew much about knives and was working a job that required cutting a lot of boxes I edc'd a box cutter. So the shortest blade would be a box cutter that is used up, maybe like 5 mm of workable edge when you have snapped off all but the last piece.

Since then have moved up to a SAK classic on the keychain as the literal edc blade + I rotate a larger folder for heavier tasks. Some days it is just the SAK.:D

Spyderco Kopa is about as small as I'll go for a primary knife, and only when it's an office day. I regularly carry a Case Peanut as secondary, and will use it for most tasks.

Generally I prefer 3" minimum, and go as large as the Spyderco Military.

I see you couldn't resist "waving" that knife! Looks good.;)

Other than slip-joints, I TRY to keep it around 3 inches.
No big deal if its under that, but if it is, it needs to be thick, heavy, and strong.

Thank you Mr. Dorn, it works for me and that's all that matters.

I just ordered a Three Sisters Forge Beast...slightly less than 3" blade...using M390 blade-steel. I expect that this will be my EDC. I have a "Beast" now in 154cm and it's a good knife. The M390 should be top-notch.

I like bigger and lighter :D a 3" blade is what I usually carry, but I would love a 4"+ blade at the weight of my Manix 2 LW, ok maybe *bit* heavier, a little bit, a tiny bit, like around the same ballpark? Anything? Anyone? :o hehe

I just about quit the 4" or bigger EDC Knives and here in the last 6 months or so I have been carrying a Spyderco Delica and since I collect the Swayback Jacks I have been switching them around some ~~ but just about decided 2 1/2" to 3" was all I needed in my pocket as if done right and need be, will chew up a person pretty bad if you know what you are doing, it helps a lot.!

At work, I like a blade over 3.25 inches, backed up by a smaller blade, like a Delica. I don't buy many blades between 2.75 and 3.25 inches

hmm, closest i could find is the Pacific Salt, 3.8" blade and same weight.

The bare minimum for me would be 3". I usually carry knives that are 3 1/2 to 4". Lately I've been carrying fixed blades a lot.

The smallest primaries I carry are probably a Victorinox Cadet or SRM 763. I don't know the exact bladelength on those, but that's pretty much the smallest I go.
Do keep in mind that sometimes -just sometimes- I don't have a blade on me. But even then, there's still a Vic Classic on my keys :-)

Have to be the zt0700 for me......I think. Just going off of memory on what knives I carry and their length.

Never under estimate what a Vic classic can do. It's my keyring knife, and my "Downtown" knife for when I go into Washington D.C. just down the road. There's whole days in the city that the little classic is my 'only' knife, and it does just fine for city cutting. I always keep it in a sheath on my keyring so I can't leave the house without it. I made my own keyring sheath fo fit that's more secure than the cheepie fake leather one Vic sells.

I carry a 3" blade Mini Recon 1 by itself some times...usually have Large Voyager and one or two slippies along with it as long as its still cool enough for a jacket. Definitely prefer 4" blades but like the smaller ones for using in public.

Agreed. You can do a lot with that little bugger.
