Shot Show 2018

Has the compression lock been played out much like other past locks? Just over saturated in the Spyderco lineup?
*Edit: a compression lock will enter my collection in the next couple of years

The Emerson Seax.

My Ninjavitis is tingling.
That’s awesome. That will be my first Emerson. Wonder what the weight is on this one?

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm excited about a SOG!

I've loved the Spec Elite Auto for years, but wasn't a big fan of paying $100+ for Aus8. They've got a new one coming with s35vn and micarta handles.

Wow that’s awesome! Thanks for letting us know! I still have my Spec Elite 2 and thought it was one of the better autos on the market. I’ve carried that thing for at least five or six years now. I would love one with an updated steel and micarta handles!

The Expat "Medellin" does look interesting, now that I've found it. Loosely based on the '3, it looks like a bigger version of the second Izula folder prototype.

Too bad the only place to see pictures is on Timewastebook.

They announced the thing first in December, so I wouldn't expect to be able to purchase one before the middle of February.

I'm surprised that Brodus blades didn't get a mention, design-wise, I actually like some of their line up

The TOPS Knives Mini-Scandi Folder has my attention. I know I'm one of about five guys here who actually takes TOPS seriously, but they have moved away from the "all our knives are Serious Business for Hardcore Operators" marketing.

3"-3.5" blade, N90 stainless, liner lock, true Scandinavian grind, micarta slabs, price is supposed to be $150, and if that's MSRP, then street price should be about $120.

Hmmmm. This kind of sounds like another folder that was supposed to come out a few years ago, but then never happened.....

Edit: Condor is also coming out with a tribute to the "Otzi Knife". It's not normally my thing, but I kind of want it.

Opinel did a version of the Otzi knife as well. I can’t remember what it was called and am having trouble finding a pic.

On average what do you guys spend on a knife? A lot of meh and so on about 2018 product. I'm just curious what the average budget is.

Personally, my last several purchases have been roughly between $200-$300CAD (before shipping and tax) each (mid-range production stuff from Spyderco, Benchmade, and ZT). Though, I'd be ok with going up to around ~$400.

However with that being said, I am considering saving up and dropping North of $500 on something from Chris Reeve Knives - so if anything, my median and average values for what I spend on knives is only looking to continue to trend upwards!

I was only impressed with Leatherman and Buck.

Obviously Buck has the 110LT and the Alumni.

Now Leatherman is going full circle with their sheaths, and is reintroducing the PST though stupidly only in a limited run.
They need to bring it back for good.

Let's not forget Steel Will Knives. They unveiled... a cute redhead?

What's the deal guys? Ant Lock or stfu!
