Shot Show 2018

+1. Still, very interested to see a review on this one. It looks great IMO.

I have got bored with Spyderco the past couple of years and IMO their new releases have been kind of boring and plain. But this definitely looks promising. Nice to see them stepping it up. Definitely looks like a variation of the CR Insingo. Will be interested to see the actual price point, however when they hit the shelves.

Man the handle on that Rassenti looks just like the one for the Nirvana 2.0, really slim and nice... But I'm not digging the blade profile off the bat.

The Rassenti appeals to the wharnie lovers out there! I love it!

I love me a good Wharncliffe but something about the hole ruins it, makes it look like a duckbill profile.

I can't find any official pages about it, but in BHQ's showcase with Eric it sounds like he calls it the Paisan.

i LOVE the new kershaw bare knuckle and will definitely be getting one. I also really really like the zt rj martin 0609 and the new 0393. But I think those will both be too rich for my blood without selling a couple other knives. The bare knuckle though looks very promising. I was however disappointed with kershaw as a whole for not offering more USA made knives that bridge the gap between kershaw and zt, They need either some more under 150 zts similar to the 0200 or more USA made kershaws like the blur and leek, just with updated designs.

I am going to look at the Lionsteel SR22 (the downsized version). (I might have the model # wrong.) It is probably going to be one of my next knife purchases. Others I'm interested in is one of the Fox and Steel Will. Might have to get something larger than I normally carry with the Steel Will. I'm impressed with their line. The Spydie Techno 2 looks interesting also.

Thanxs so much for the info.
20cv while a similar composition as m390 and 204p seems to be a bit better in not only my experience but in tests too. That can be due to the fact most manufacturers ht it to 60-62hrc like zt does. Even benchmades 20cv out cuts m390,which is generally only ht'ed to 58-61hrc on average from manufacturers.

While the composition is similar each of the three steels are made a bit different. The differences may be marginal but it seems to inch it out slightly. Would love to see an apples to apples test to be sure. All three are basically epic steel for 2018. Tests shown by Ankerson and Cedric Ada show more cuts with 20cv thus far. Even out cutting s90v which has been the crown for edge retention. Of course maxamet out cuts them all but has a few cons people don't prefer maxamet as much due to maintenance.

Tbo though fixed blades are often a lower Rockwell to provide more toughness to prevent breakage. Even then any of the three would be great, specially for bushcraft.

Now that you mention it, that does look like the Benchmade Grip sheepsfoot blade. Maybe a modified Rock Lobster?

Hopefully it's not priced like the 781 Anthem...

Guarantee it'll be in the same territory as the Nirvana was, for the same reasons plus the MSRP hike.

What's interesting is that Alpha Knife Supply hints at M390 > 204P > 20CV, in that their respective PM technologies are different - Bohler uses the newest tech (3rd gen PM tech) while Crucible uses the oldest (1st gen). I've never really looked into what those differences are, and whether they have any practical real world differences.

It'd be interesting to compare the steels in a true apples-to-apples comparison - same knife, same heat treat, etc. I believe Hinderer uses both M390 and 20CV, while Spyderco uses all three in various sprint runs. I'm guessing any differences found would be within the statistical error of the tests, but who knows.

Enlightening info much appreciated.

It would be great to have CRK moving from s35vn to 20cv....
I really like the M390-20cv-204p familly

5) Spyderco Paysan
6) Urban Trapper Tanto
7) Kizer Sheepdog Mini

I am not really a Spyderco guy but a bunch caught my attention this year!

On average what do you guys spend on a knife? A lot of meh and so on about 2018 product. I'm just curious what the average budget is.
A single knife? I'm not going over $300 (on a modern production knife).
That quality is just fine and most people (that carry a pocket knife) don't get anywhere near that.
I'm talking users.

I don't know about the average. The least I spent on a knife last year was probably $30. The most I spent was $700.

Can someone please post link or post photos of the Spyderco Smock please?
The best place to see it that I have found is a video on Knife News' Shot 2018 coverage page. It's on the bottom of page 17 as I type this.

Spyderco Techno 2
ZT 0462
Spyderoc Mantra 3
Kizer Zip Slip
BM Altitude
