Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer

I didn't mean the above about the knife or Kephart's contributions to the literature of the outdoors...but he was a man with several shortcomings, shall we say. (I don't put on airs to say I am any better...but he does have his detractors and they are not without merit.)

I've read all he's written, visited his campsite in the Smoky's, (which you have to make an effort to find), and also visited his grave.

I'd think Nathan would probably kill it with a good Muk, too.....if he's jonesing for an ole timey piece

I prefer your own knife designs and other only from your shop designs, over the kephart..and i have one of your kepharts. good version and well made, but I dont love it as much as my other Carothers

Sure, if you're going to make an unprofitable pain in the ass, I'll take a Kephart with a 10" hollow ground dagger blade and a double tang. And you can name this variant of the Kephart the "Integral Dagger." Everyone else can have regular Kepharts, I'm fine with that.

Sounds like you've already decided not to revisit the Kephart but I'd love to see the folder be a priority.

If you want to do another heritage pattern the Hudson Bay Camp knife would be awesome. Use the SDFK handles and a slightly thinner upswept blade.

If you want to revisit an existing one I'd look at the ones that are reselling at a premium vs their original release. HDFK, DEK2, etc.

The folder just doesn’t have a huge appeal to me, although I’m sure I will love it and buy a few. A lot of people specialize and make great folders. I think fixed blade when I think Carothers and D3V. I understand the skinner desire, but for me I’d rather see a bird & trout knife which would probably qualify as mini edc or mini dek with slim handle and scalpel like blade…. Also, I hope you do some integral daggers, like mentioned previously, and make them available lottery style for your many supporters here. Blade deserves attention, but your true followers are here, and many just can’t make Blade. Do a sale post and take top 100 then do random number generator to pick winners…. Happy almost new years everyone!!!

I've been thinking about it all day, and feel I need to clarify; even though kephart is my least favourite CPK model, if you were to drop me into a wilderness survival type situation and gave me a choice of only one fixed blade knife - CPKephart or a similar model from any other knife company- I'd choose the CPK. Everything you need, nothing you don't. Fugly as hell. Good steel.
