Should not have come onto my porch...
Should not have curled up by my front door...
Should not have threatened my pups...
Should not have positioned itself under my TGLB.

Bad Snake by Retrocon, on Flickr

New TGLB pants in the future.

That is awesome to say the least!! Did you kill it with the TGLB or just take it's head off with it?? If that question makes any sense... because if so, that is waaaaaayyyy too close for comfort for me! I would have used a shovel or.........a Butaniku or AK-47.......if I had one. :) Pretty cool! Can't wait to see the new sheath.

I have an 8 foot pole with a wire that i can pull around it's neck... then off with it's head.

so yes, killed it with the TGLB, but it was reasonably safe once i got it looped.

Since we have 5 dogs, and they're territorial, it's impossible to just toss em into the neighbors yard and think they won't come back ;-)

Wow, that is pretty cool!! Always had a fascination with snakes, especially dangerous ones. But I am glad it was dispatched safely. Nice knife too!

Not sure of the specific species, i'll have to look it up, we have quite a few in the AZ desert here. See my last post, getting it looped can be a game and brings up the adrenalin, but it's not like i played Rambo, or anything.

thanks!

Safe for me, not so much for him :D

And after wacking it through the neck and into the granite below, not a mark on the TGLB! That CF finish makes it look like i never use the dang thing, though it's my main brush trimmer on the property here.

Looks to be a Western Diamondback, but I am no expert. Deadly and very aggressive when provoked though, that is for sure!

Watch the head, they can and will still bite with venom for a few minutes after they're dead.

Are you going to skin it out?
Had a few cooked over a campfire skewered on a stick. Tastes like chicken but kind of chewy

Thought it might be a diamondback, but wasn't sure.

The head can be nasty, after removing, i let it bake awhile in the desert sun before moving it ;)

Skinning, done.

Unfortunately, i was just starting a teleconference into work at the time... so it had to sit outside for an hour before i could get to it... tossed it for the vultures.

I have a record... i'm the only person with my fortune 50 company to have killed two rattlesnakes while on teleconferences. The last one had the exterminator (bugs, not snakes) trapped at a junction between two walls... you'd have to have seen it to appreciate it.

Pretty cool !

Yes, diamondback, I used to live in you're neighborhood, dispatched quite a few over the years.

Make great hat bands, and as stated, tastes like chicken.

Yup, have et' em before, but since i had to let this one sit while i was on a telecon, figured saving the skin was the best i could do.

Can't wait to make some pants for the TGLB that did the task!

I love that you're gonna make a sheath for it outta him. That's certainly fitting (lol puns) and will make a great story to boot!

UM fried Rattlesnake!!! Great pic Bro. When I was in high school we use to round up snakes to sale the venom.

I have no idea what type of snake that is but if it showed up on my front portch I think id be grabbin a 12g not a knife! ahahah My gosh that thing is massive!
