Should nots...

looking at the list (and not including Zoos/Reptile parks etc) ... I think I have seen 9 or so at some point. Never seen and Inland Taipan in the wild (they are thankfully pretty hard to find) but I have seen a few of the Coastal variety... first time was in the NT in the mid 1980s.... I was out in a remote area fishing/hunting buffalo and crossed paths with one on the edge of the river.... I tell you if I had to choose the Taipan or the Crocs I think it would have been the Crocs...!!!!!! Back then there was of course no phones, no radio (that we had) and not much chance of help, yep... with the crocs at least if I got out of the other side of the river I would be OK... :D I see more Eastern Browns and Red Belly Blacks than anything else. I have another pic here of the floor of a machinery shed I took showing all the snake trails in the dirt....

 Just seeing ONE of those would be enough for me. And if I had to choose between that snake and a crocodile, I choose to run. . . .for my life. . . zig-zagging the whole way of course. I heard you are supposed to do that LOL :D

Top picture is the floor of an open front machinery shed, it was taken in December so it really was as hot as Hades out there... I didn't actually notice the marks for a bit as I was over there looking at an old bike ....when I DID notice the marks and the dull light bulb above my head started to glow I did get a bit of a dose of the eby-jeebies !!!!! The second pic is interesting as the vehicle tracks over which you can see the snake trail was made by me just a little earlier in the day... I still have not seen the snake(s) that made the trails but if I were to hazard a guess I would say a Mulga snake the most probable.

I donno, Andy... the shear magnitude of the number snake trails makes me think "B-Movie Horror Flick"

Lol Did you move????

Nope.... still stay there a few times a year....D Yeas ago I did see a snake sliding acorss the exposed rafters in the kitchen of the place (the rooflinging having long ago fallen out).... I say a snake as opposed to what kind of snake as I was too busy trying to retreive my .300Win from the front room to deal with it....never did see it again....but it did make for some interesting thoughts while trying to fall asleep that night....!!

Reason #1 to always wear boots and wear gloves when working outside. I was picking up pecan limbs out back and nearly grabbed this 15 inch 1 button Eastern Diamondback by accident. It was stretched out under the leaves and looked just like another stick. Something in the back of my brain registered "snake" at the last second and I stopped. Since I ALWAYS carry a Kabar Mk2 when working anywhere outside, one quick slash and it was a "good" rattlesnake.
