Should nots...

Yes.....out here a shovel is just as close as I want to get....12ga however gives the standoff I prefer.....:D

One my mate got in his yard last summer.....

Glad you made it out of the situation unharmed. They can be a bit dangerous if not careful.

Darly aint got nothing on you:eek:

Cause Id rather face the zombies :D

That is awesome  He definitely SHOULD NOT have done any of those things. . . .

Well, with a list of Should Not's like that, that snake certainly had it coming.

Awesome! Reminds me of that liveleak vid where the snakes bites itself AFTER it's head was chopped off.

Is that one of the legendary Eastern Browns??????
.... yes it is, very common where I grew up (and my mate there still lives), I saw a couple of them out hunting earlier this year but it is not the snake I see that really botehrs me..!!

So what you are saying is that if I come to Oz I need a good thick pair of Cowboy boots to protect the ankles. GOT IT.

I own snakes the don't kill you with one bite and they have a tendency to be a bit nippy. im not so sure I want my hand that close to something who's main defense is a bite that's pretty darn quick and deadly I might add.

..... nah.... "cowboy up" mate... hunt bare foot or in flip flops (we call 'em thongs) at most..... ;)

Wow, this thread has paid off... i'm getting see some great snakes like the eastern brown and the copper head on a plank!

I've heard that the shape of the head indicates a venomous snake, Andy, is the Eastern Brown venomous? Looks wicked from the pic.

Frankly, a shovel would have worked great, too. But i had this thing. I wanted to make a sheath from something that was a direct result of the blade, so i'd actually been planning to use the TGLB on my next snake. Unfortunately, it's been like 3 years between rattlers, which is rare. i don't seek 'em out. They just show up at the house occasionally.

And yes, looked this up for reference. It's a western diamondback.

The markings on that copper head are awesome. But i'll bet you are now checking the yard when you let the grandkids out, at least for awhile! I know we're pre-walking the property for since we found this latest next to our door. Did you shoot it with the FN FAL? Nice wood furniture on her (did i get that right?)

And Ladies, the TGLB is a snake slayers best friend, you SHOULD NOT be without one, IMHO! It even helped skin em... :D

On the "World's Most Venomous" the Eastern Brown come in at No3 I think, Inland Taipan is No 1, Costal Taipan (and the PNG sub-species No 2 and the Eastern at No 3. The Brown however inhabits areas which are much more populated and so encounters with humans are far more common than either of the Taipans. I have always found the Brown to have a pretty nasty temperament as well, though like pretty much all snakes, give them a way out and they will take it. When we meet out in the sticks Mr Nolegs is free to go about his business and on his way, around camp or the house the situation is very different...!!!!

Oh.... with that Brown...my mate and my Godson and daughter BBQed right him after the pic was taken... :D

Funny timing seeing this thread. I had a rattler curled up near my feet at the job site in the hills today. Took it's head off with a shovel. Discovered it was pregnant with 6 more while skinning it with my Benchmade. They were all moving upon removal so I grabbed the 911 from under the drivers seat of the 4Runner and took off their heads.
