Nice, Ban. I also like the mirrored palindrome effect of your touchmark. That is a cool idea.

I've been drooling over this thread for some time now, but I'm happy to say I finally have a pic of my own custom camp/chopper to add. It's one I just picked up from G.L. Drew. Took it out this last week to Brown County and it is a winner!

Here's a few pics of my new favorite custom...

Thanks evilly. Great work wana!

Roger
You're welcome Roger, however, the Wana's knife is high quality in heat-treatment, flow profile, handle balancing and special in the handle make of stabilized wood. That is all I know about him.

Cheers,
Evilly

O-1 is some good material. . .what material are you heat treating it at and tempering it? What hardness are you shooting for?

I have am making some 1-2-3 block and some 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 angle plates out of O-1. . .I heat treated them at 1500* and then drew them back (tempered them) at 400*. . .they Rockwelled out at 64 Rc hardness!!! nice and hard, they should last a liftetime!!! Of course grinding them after heat treating is a very time consuming process though!!!

I take them a bit past 1450 for ten minutes, quench in oil. Temper three times at 400 and a bit. I did learn the hard way to get a nice finish on everything that needs it before I hardened it, wow what a job on the first one I made! I would imagine mine would be at about 59 rockwell, I cannot mark it with good files after hardened, but can scratch it up some with good files after tempering to a medium straw colour.
