Even if quite small (9-1/4" OAL) this is an exceptional sub-hilt (Loveless Baby Bear design) from Thad Buchanan. It was offered to CKCA members at this year's CKCA mini-show @ $1200 and I understand it was quickly re-sold for around double that price. A beautiful and expertly executed piece in deed.

Heres one made for me by Dave Cole to my instructions and design.KT

Cool to see this thread come back. I still love subhilts as much today as back when I started this.

Here is my latest sub. Landed it at Jerry Fisk's Microshow last October where Don was a guest maker. Old bark elephant ivory served up with all of the goodness that Don Hanson is known for. The damascus is complex and art in steel. Paul Long's sheath is perfection and makes this package a flagship in my collection.

I was quite lucky to get this one, Roger. The ivory is indeed unreal and I forgot to mention that the top of the blade is as sharp as the bottom!!! Double edged, tapered tang...a dream come true.

Damn, Jon, those are beautiful!

I got something in the works...
the wait promises to be well worth it.

So far I have only one subhilt from last year (been posted to forum last year). It's the first Loveless Style Big Bear that Thad made.
