I just finished my first subhilt and thought I better post it on here. The blade is 10 inches of 1095 steel. The fittings are 416 Stainless and the handle is Walrus Ivory. I hope you like it. Lin

Lin,

I'd have to say you are off to a great start with sub hilts. Very ABSish with the flat ground single edged blade, but that's to be expected coming from a smith! Good handle shape. Good size. It's very nice.

Lin,

That subhilt is great, I really like the shortened top portion of the guard. Looks great as usual.

Thank you Russ and Guys. Yes Billy, it's the one we talked about.

The times I've had a chance to handle subhilts, the secondary guard seemed to get in my way. I supected it was needing to be a little forward or back from where it was. I really tried to position this one where you almost cant feel it there. Even though I used beefy stock for the fittings, they feel good and secure without getting annoying between your fingers.
