Wow!! I'm relatively new to BF ...
I don't have a collection of 15s. I only have one, just got it recently, and its my first 15 frame knife. It's a 2015 single sheepfoot with green camel bone. I like the 15 frame more than I expected![]()
Wow!! I'm relatively new to BF and clicked on this thread for the first time yesterday. Thanks for sharing some truly amazing collections of 15s out there! I recognize the time and the research that it took to curate these pieces.

I'm relieved to hear that! I'm not nuts for having several versions of a GEC pattern (I have a lot of 72s and 83s).amen, i remember at one time i was buying each one i saw in the for sale section and on the bay. had almost 11 or more at one point
Thanks for warm welcome, redsparrow!!! I am very much enjoying this community of like-minded people. I've found that a lot of people are uncomfortable seeing anything other than a kitchen knife or talking about it, even in AZ (where I live)... which is fine. I'd be asked about my hobbies and as soon as I share that I collect traditional knives, the mood gets awkward and they can't wait to change the subject. People have the right to be uncomfortable about anything (and I give it due respect)... but sometimes, it can be isolating.Welcome to BF, slipcraft. You're off to a great start! The green camel bone is a beautiful example of a great knife. Liking the 15 more than you expected is not surprising, they can be quite enticing. I look forward to your future post. -James

or... is it possible that we're both nuts? *gasp*

Wife: why do you need 10 different versions of the same knife?hold on, let me get my 48s and 77s!
Just over a week now carrying the one arm blade every day. I really like this knife and I have no plans of taking it out of my pocket any time soon. Much more functional blade than I had anticipated. I found it real handy for yard work, and it slices like magic in the kitchen. Wish I could find the version with the cap lifter.

I think they made 11 or 13 of them in 2014. Even with as unpopular as the razor blade is, those few Natural Micarta cap lifter razor are impossible to find and a fortune to buy once you do. For, literally, less than 20% of what you would spend on one of those, you can have yours modified to have a cap lifter.
I spent months looking for one, and when I reached out to an owner of one on here, I dropped my ambitions after hearing what he paid for his. I'm jealous as all get out that he has one, but I'm not spending TA Davison money on a GEC.
Wurrwulf Thanks for the info! I have opened a couple beers using the butt end of the handle. Works pretty well, but will eventually start chipping the bone. I'll look into getting it modified.
Or you could simply get hold of one of these Crownlifters. I think they're fantastic and for some odd reason they are not as popular or 'sought after' as other 15s. That's good because it means you can find them at reasonable cost. All those 'rare' GEC 15s that command eye-watering prices are non users, valuable they may be but they're still just a production line GEC....

I got bit hard by the 15 bug for the first time about two weeks ago with the green camel bone sheepfoot. Add some random luck and this is what happened:

Okay... before I get burned in effigy, I realize that the one on the far right isn't a 15. It's a 56 frame Weaver Jack in rust red micarta (2011 production). Aside from the slight curvature in the handle, it feels so similar in hand to the 15 (to me at least). I really like this knife, but it doesn't seem to get as much love as the 15 frame. In fact, I think I've read a few posts describing the weaver jack as "ugly". I must be missing something because I think it's gorgeous. Aesthetics are subjective, but I think it's far from ugly.
Anyways, I'm greatly enjoying the 15 frame. Perfectly proportioned and beautiful finishes. I don't think it will be in my EDC rotation anytime soon, but they sure are pretty to look at![]()
