Show off your 15's

what's everyone think of that slightly longer pull?

It is a very rare pull, so collectors will go crazy for it.

But..... it seems a little off to me visually. It seems to crowd the tang stamping.

A person uses the point end of the pull for leverage, so it makes very little mechanical sense to extend the pull to the tang.

I predict GEC will not do pulls into the tang again, and so these few dozen clip 15’s may become white whales just because they are wacky.

Agree with @Travman not sure I like it extending into the tang. IMO it's a slight oops to which I say good, maybe they won't bring such a premium on the secondary market. Chew flipper chew.

E Elgatodeacero after working with some brittle materials myself, they are easier to work with if you have them stabilized first. That removes the moisture which will boil and make the material crack if you get it hot. Fills in all the little cracks, makes it work like real hard plastic. If you don't have ultrasharp equipment, you'll burn it instead of cutting it, like I did with this purpleheart, easily visible in the second pic end grain where I had to use a grinder to cut it. Wow hard.

Did someone say they’re running 15’s again? ;) Maybe I’ll be able to pick up a few like this! :D

haha i did score a 15 pen and clip second at the store last year, some one else beat me to the jigged bone that was in the regular counter. i wonder if there will be any 15 seconds in the shop this year.... i was going to sacrifice for another mod and swap to have an ebony long pull but then im sort of stuck with a spear knife bright with end cap because there will be no clip to harvest from.

Two points about the pull going long into the tang:
1) many older knives had pulls just like this (or even longer into the tang) and Charlie and Bill like the old stuff
2) probably done on purpose to differentiate it from the older versions.

Here's an image from Chief Chief 's collection:

This isn't the first run to have the long pull into the tang. Check the Peachseed TCs from '16. I remember reading in some thread somewhere about that specific run in which @waynorth wrote something specifically to Jeff's point #2, that the extended pull was to differentiate from other runs.

GPKnives has the #15 black linen micarta clip-point in stock at the moment. I'm thrilled to have gotten one at a reasonable price!

This one just arrived. I originally had a pre-order on a different one but switched my order to the green micarta spear point. Something about it just screams "Boys Knife". Fit n finish, walk n talk, all perfect. I flushed it, stropped it, and slipped it right in my pocket for the day.

Very pleased with today's arrival, even if red micarta wouldn't be my first choice it looks good. Long pull, single clip, flush halfstop, steel liners, more snap in this run than other recent 15s = hooray! GEC knows how to make 15s. Thanks Barry @gunstockjack for taking good care of me again.

Refuse to pay flipper price, make them chew on them when their credit card bill comes due, that's the only way to stop that madness and teach them not to buy knives they don't want. Makes it too hard for those of us who might actually want the knife, maybe even to gift it, and not for profit. These are dang fine knives, worthy of gifting, not flipping. The traditional knife community shouldn't be about the buck unless you are a dealer, and even dealers should be happy with a reasonable profit.

I think it looks a handsome work-knife and yet tough to boot!
Admire the extended pull, seen it on some very old knives from the c19th and it sits well here too.
I missed out on this run, the curse of being in Europe :D But I think you're spot on about the flippers, they only thrive if people give them money, kind of extortion racket with all manner of ludicrous justifications or insane lies to justify their actions. " I got six of these by accident....my house left me so now I've got some serious bills." Right.

Regards, Will

Thanks for the heads up but the black clip points are gone now. :(

traumkommode traumkommode newest collection pic. You are right, the long pulls have been creeping into the tang, including pony cut on the far right, smooth bone at the bottom, and the recent soup bone from the Oregon show right center. Those nicks are also wider and probably little easier to grab.

JohnDF JohnDF this pic is single clips only, the sweetie you like is my only two blade TC, beautiful third cut stag, clip / pen. Replaced by a single clip third cut stag center top of this pic.
