Show off your Fiddlebacks and Leather

That is super cool! Very squatchy. Great start, you should be proud. Even better that your wife was involved.

Thanks guys, these compliments mean a lot! It's nice to know that I can fashion a sheath now for my future knives.

newsasquatch,

Your personalized petroglyphs tell the coolest story that I have ever seen on a sheath. Combined with the rest of the texturing, it looks like an archeological find rather than something you just made. Totally awesome.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I can't wait to see your next one.

@Comprehensivist, wow, thanks for the compliment! I'm blown away by the positive response on here and am so glad I decided to try and make one myself. My fiddleback machete has 2 functions; camping and coconuts, so my wife went with the camping route in her etchings. For anyone whos interested, I did a parking lot distressing technique, where you wet the sheath, put it in a grocery bag to protect it from dirt, and stomp the hell out of it lol. I also used antique gel to fill in the etchings and distressed marks. I heard about this technique from the guy at the leather store when I asked him what antique gel could be used for. I figured if I make mistakes, this technique will hide them. I still don't know where hide the knot at the end of the crosstitching and I also don't know how to get a straight succesion of holes on the backside of my sheath. I'll figure out a solution, and do better next time.

Here's one made by NixKustoms. It's a great sheath.
It was originally made for a BK16, but the Bushfinger rides perfectly.

@m4super90, thanks for the advice. I would only make these as gifts for friends so a nice makers mark would definitely add some charm to the gift.

This for me is where Old School:

Sorry I lost the direct sun, but I wanted to get these posted as I promised them some time ago. Rick did a fabulous job piecing this rig together. The Bishop is 3/16" and the Asp is 1/8". Not much I cannot do with this rig on my side, strapped around my shoulder or on my pack. If you do not have any RLO leather, check him out. xxwjtxx gave me the idea for this rig after seeing one of his.

Rick is definitely a top quality maker and guy in general. Fantastic work on that one.

Where's the pic of you wearing it though? :)

I fear that you will not be able to see the Bishop for the dunlap:). Seriosly, I'll try to get the tripod out sometime soon to get some hard body action shots.

Where are you going to get the hard body?

Newsasquatch, that sheath turned out great! It was fun helping and seeing it's progress. I'm going to have to use the same texturing technique. :)
