I thought I'd bring this thread back up due to recent discussion of acrylic and perylic covered knives.

St Patty's Day acrylic #09 -- the green has a color shift effect to it that is hard to show in photos. But it's gorgeous in hand.

Some great looking acrylic in this thread. I'm a big fan.
I'll have to add mine later... And I want MORE!

It’d be a shame to let this fine thread die! So let’s see some more of GEC’s acrylics! Tortoises!

That's a great torch! Tortoise acrylic is one of my favorite's. Great photos.

I'd love to see more unicorn ivory. Was the #25 the only pattern produced w/ this material? It's the only one I've seen..

#54 Moose and #54 3 spring whittler w/ Green Velvet Perylic.

Icky, I believe you're right about the unicorn ivory. It was difficult to work with and caused an unacceptable % of rejects, if I remember correctly. The only thing close to it that GEC have used was the ivory casein, and they only made a very few of those as well in the #23 and #73 patterns back in 2007. It also has a nice grain structure.

I know I'm the minority but tortoise shell is actually my favorite cover. I know it isn't a popular material for knives but it clicks with me. I only have two now but a 14 on the way and now that I see the other patterns available I am going to be looking for those too! Planting the seed for when you folks decide to sell yours :)

Yea..that's too bad, such a pretty material. I like that ivory casein..I've never seen that before. Looks soft like paper micarta.

waverave waverave .. Tortoise is one of my favorite's as well.

When someone finally ended my search for an Ebony #92 spear (still want another though:D), I was also offered a Lava Kirinite 92. I initially wasn't interested because the (very) few examples I've seen weren't very interesting. But then I saw the picture he sent of his, and I just had to have it. Plus it's even better in person. There's so much going on with the reds lines, and the grey/silver has a chatoyance that's mesmerizingly deep.
