Show the Christmas Knife you received!

Oky Doke Nathan.

Surely there are more Xmas knives for you peeps to show. Bring em on !

Here is a picture of the knife from Dan Pierson. It has a beautiful Black Poison Wood handle.....check out the wood variations and the shaping, with a copper guard......check out the detail. It's really very nice work that's unfolded into a beautiful knife. And yes, it's kinda cool that we ended up using the same steel for the blade (3/16 A2).

This is...well....Wow! 1
095 steel,
9-1/4" from tip to guard.
14" overall length.
Hand rubbed with a very feint, but visible hamon. I couldn't get it to show in the photos.
Stabilized Aboyna Burl.
Buffalo horn spacer.
I lost the description that Rob had supplied with the knife. I'm thinking that the guard and other spacers are nickelsilver. The work is incredible!

Enjoy the photos.

Mr. Ickes looks like you did very well in the exchange! Thanks again for putting this together for us.

Allen

I was out shoveling snow the other day, and had shown it to my neighbor. When we got to the point of opening the bags of salt, I handed the knife to him and it cut through the thick plastic of the salt bags like there wasn't any material at all there. After cutting through the bag, he pulled the knife back, looked at it for a second and said, "Holy Shit, that's sharp!". I said, "So, is that the first real knife you've ever used?" and started laughing. He was in awe of how easily it cut through the bag.

Here is the one I recieved from Gerald McGuire (AKA Big Medicine) It was sittin on the table when I woke up today a very welcome surprise WOO HOO
This knife is beautiful and looks like a very good functtional design.

Thanks Gerald

Wee! It must have been the good karma since I mailed out my very late knife today, there was a package sitting on my doorstep for me when I got home today ! I got this great knife and sheath from Koyote (Christoph Harper) and promptly cut myself while admiring it =) (just a minor notch in a fingertip, like a big papercut)

Sorry that my photography skills suck =)

I got home from work last night and I found this nice little 3 finger knife waiting on the breakfast bar! :D

Alexander Noot (LXEmergency) made this one from 10WCrV5 ( a carbon steel) and Purpleheart. It's sharp as heck and fits my hand really well! Nice little utility knife! Alexander also included a great poem with the knife. He tells me that it is a tradition in Holland to include poems with Christmas gifts.

Thank you very much Alexander!

I just recieved my Christmas Exchange Knife today. Jason sent it on time and it should have been here well before Christmas. I was in the process of moving and the post office did not forward it properly. Thanks for resending Jason!

The knife was hand forged. It was forged from a stick of 5/8's 1070 round spring stock. This is the 13th Jason has made and the 1st with a guard. The handle is Colorado Elk main beam. The guard , pin, and butt cap, are all copper as you can see and they have a hand peened finish.

This knife is awesome! I do only stock removal and this is the first forged knife I have ever held and it is the first knife I have ever owned with an elk handle. The style and workmanship of this knife are beautiful and true to the period it represents. Thanks so much Jason, I will always cherish this knife!:D

Dear .....
In Holland we have a tradition, writing things in poetry for with Christmas gifts is our mission.
So here is my meager attempt, as I stumble through English and hope it’s not bent.

This little knife was made just for you. Designed by my wife the shape was, t’is true!
The blade my first attempt at hollow ground, my second knife only, I do feel quite proud.

The thickness 3,5mm really no joke, but if you use it as a crowbar I’m sure it’ll…uhm…break.
The leather beats the blade at 4 milimeters. T’is the best I could find and it aint no slug beater.

The handle slabs are made of wood. It’s called purple but looks more reddish it might be misunderstood.
I polished them up especially for you. I polished and polished until I turned blue.

The size might be a little small for a guy like yourself, it might be more useful for a lady friend whispered my little elf.
Just take care of this little thing, the wood is not stainless and neither is it’s cling.

So have youself a lovely holiday And if you’re ever in the Netherlands
Shout out at Bladeforums and you can stop by our way.

Ok, my turn. This is the knife I recived from Allen Newberri. Crafted from 1095 carbon steel and diferentially heat treated with a paduk handle and a sexy kydex seath. Lovely! Pictures are not right out of the box, it has been used already during a hike, so don't blame Allen for the patina... it's all my fault. By the way, it was sharp a a laser when I recived and after cutting a fair share of carboard and food it is still as sharp.

Thanks a lot Allen for this knife.

Come on guys! There was about 80 of us making / sending / reciving knives! I know that not all of the knives have arrived. Some are on the way, some are about to be shipped and a few more are not even finished but… hey! There has to be a few more already into their final owners!

Your sincere little poem, to our exchange it does fit,
I find it pleasing and comforting, I must admit,
It brings my heart joy, to see such emotion,
Put towards knives and poetic devotion!
