Show the Christmas Knife you received!

Well since the guy I sent my knife to never posted a Picture of it I thought I would. I also never recived a knife to post a picture of so here ya go.

I forged it from Aldo’s 1084, the antler is from my sister in-law in Wyoming and the piece of walnut is from trimming my tree three years ago.

Unfortunately, the knife you were supposed to get, was to be made by the same person that you made a knife for. This saddens me. I dealt with it last year, and I'm dealing with it again this year. I'm going to not allow makers into future exchanges that have done this to others in the past. Life happens, but to not hear from them on why they didn't make your knife just doesn't seem right to me.

By the way, that knife is incredible!

That stinks. I want to point out here as well that Keith H would have been really close to Christmas with his delivery if we hadn't had the shipping fiasco and then my big, fat delay.

It would have been pretty close anyway, now I am preoccupied with all of the bubble wrap that it was shipped in :D

Robert, sorry for a late knife.

Its like watching a childs face when Santa didnt come. That is sad. Commitments are important and need to be kept if at all possible. This one failed to deliver and didnt even email an excuse? That is wrong on so many levels but mostly it just plain hurts.

I did get an e-mail saying he was running late back on 1/10/09 saying he put it in the mail on that day. But being that 2 months have passed and he never replied to my last e-mail I desided to post the pics myself. If it showed in July I would be happy if I had just recived e-mails telling me what was up.

Yea, I have yet to receive mine also...pretty much given up. Don't know if I'll participate next year...kind of disappointing to put all that time and energy into one and not have anything in return. But on the other hand, it is about the giving not receiving.

+1 on not allowing those folks next year I plan on participating again and wouldnt dream of treating someone that way... just my .02

I was a tad late due to shipping trouble (it is forbidden to ship knives from Spain... unless you are an authorized dealer) but I finally manged to send it. I hope those guys who still have to send their knives will do it sooner or later. I would feel pretty bad myself if I broke a deal like that not sending the knife I was supposed to be making.

 Never seen anything like that. Where do you get that basalt fiber and what is it commonly used for? Inquiring mind wants to know...
Mikel

You would have to ask Fod where he got it. I have no idea. It's made from volcanic rock (Basalt, if you missed the connection) and is often used in camera tripod legs, and experimented with for avionic frames back in the day.

It's cool though, i mean who else has a sheath made from a fibrous rock!

Scout_77, and Teksec, if you don't get your knives I'm a newbie maker making another batch of knives and getting better as i go. I was hoping to sell some of these, but will likely have one not so perfect knife I'm not comfortable selling. Not to pass them off as seconds, I just want to try to sell some of these to make up material costs (Having at least one hobby that can break even appeals to me) and not get stuck a box full of the once I'm not comfortable selling. they will still function just like a knife, I promise. If you want one, its yours. though it will take awhile to finish. I'll draw straws if there's more than one that wants it. I'm sure in a board as generous as this somebody else will step up so you can both get knives.

So don't feel shy accepting, if you don't take it I'm giving it to someone less deserving.

I appreciate the generous offer but my maker has contacted me and there was just a delay in his production. Thank you very much though, that's what this board is all about! Hope to see you participate in the next one!

alright, well the offer is open to anyone that didn't receive their knife. I know it wasn't just you two. and if it doesn't work out the offer still stands.

I never got my knife or was contacted yet about it...gave up long time ago...didnt even hear from the person that I sent my knife to...ow well.....

Hey Jim,
How about a forth of July knife exchange?
I've got to finish my Military build off knife first, so that time frame will give me enough time. :)

Scott,

Please don’t get discouraged. I had such a great time building the knife I sent out and would love the opportunity to do it again. You guys did such a great job putting the exchange together and I am truly sorry that some folks did not follow through on their word.

I was thinking about jumping in for the 2009 Christmas KITH but after seeing these pictures I think I'll hold off... Maybe I'll do the newbie KITH.

Those are some really cool treasures you guys have there. I also think that if somebody did not follow through with their end of the bargain, especially without word as to why, that they should not be allowed to participate again.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes from this year's Christmas KITH!
